I did it one year with my credit card and looked a right knob trying to pay for my new hifi with a card that refused to work.

The hammer method. Simply smash ice with hammer. You only have to perform it once on the windows and the ice never comes back! Internal car temperature can get a bit cold but oh well thats why we have AC!

Engine running, all demisters on, 4pint milk bottle. Full of hot water, rub it on the windows and maybe a big finale of pouring it over the screen.

I also use the plastic “lid” end of a small Pringles can as a scraper. It’s a great shape and doesn’t cover you in ice shavings.
