Do ladies like to be called ladies?

What about Hun, babe, chick, women, birds, females, girls, she who shall not be named?

Every time I say my opinion, no matter how much I caveat it that some people feel or see it this way, other women tell me I'm wrong

Woman is my preference. Ladies maybe. Female and girl definitely not. Pet names... not until we're friendly.

For me it's so contextual. It can be nice. It can be eye roll inducing. It can transport me back to school assembly where everyone is in trouble

Good grief {insert appropriate name/s here}, I'm going to have to create an Excel ™ Spreadsheet with some of these varying responses. I can't keep up.

What's computer code for a query? If meet person, ask. If response given, respect wishes.

Job done.

I prefer being called a woman. Mainly because I am. I don't mind lady.

I don't really care what people I don't know very well call me, all it does is tell me something about them, it's no reflection on me

If you are addressing a group then preferably women or ladies at a push. Definitely not females or girls.

If talking to me as an individual then use my name (or username on here) please.

Pet names such as hun, babe, darling, sweetheart etc are for people who know me well enough to use them.

Anyone using these in a first message to me on here won't get a reply from me.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

Wench, Maid, Lass... Maid is my favourite.

But those all have specific reasons for me. As do the ones I don't like.

Unfortunately I think Nero is right and the only way to know is to do a spreadsheet and change your term depending on who you're talking to.

"What's wrong with our names "

That requires me to remember each name for each individual. Lady is universal and much easier.

It's not difficult to use woman or lady or whatever regional term is appropriate before you know someone is it? Then once you know them just use whatever term the two of you want.

I always use men or man for people presenting as male. I wouldn't say boys and I don't use 'guy' outside of fab. Once I know someone I might use the term 'mate'.

If I'm going to bonk you, hypothetically (wishful thinking), in an EasyHotel™ then "woman" is fine. If I'm going bonk² you in the Churchill Suite at Claridges then it'll have to be "lady". It's a prerequisite in fact.

If bonking was on the cards whatever the location, I suspect I would know the hapless gent well enough to be on first name terms . Upon signing the hotel register he might discover that my title is in fact Lady Nice of Niceton unless I was incognito to avoid the Daily Mirror.

I asked my play partners this over time and all said they liked to be called women, or girls , 2 didnt mind being called a Lady especialy with my profile bame ,but the rest said Lady was too old/mature.

Each to their own and it easy to stick to a preferred title.

Trouble either confuses me or makes my skin crawl. It's certainly something that stops any possibility of further conversation

I have a terrible habit of saying "sorry love"

Or addressing a mixed room as "hiya guys"

I apologise if these are on your lists of words you find offensive.
