Wrapping presents : are you good at it?

Nr Cardiff or at Chams Darlaston

I started wrapping yesterday , as I’m trying to wrap as I buy them. Wolf’s sellotape dispenser was a great help. My Mum always wrote little clues on the tags, so I now do that too. Makes it take longer but it’s a tradition my kids enjoy. I’m not a great wrapper and I know once I’ve done a few, the last ones aren’t so great.

No, I proper suck at it.

But, it all ends in the recycling, so I’m not overly fussy about it being done well either.

All over

Depends on shape, some weird. Do your best or just drop them in a big bag or sack with a note to give it back so you can use next year too

"No. Not my forte. Me and sellotape are not good buddies "

Red mentions using a sellotape dispenser … this is a bit of a game changer, avoids that but where you need about 4 hands.

Other basics that he’ll give you a chance … decent paper that doesn’t rip at the drop of a hat, and sharp scissors.

Depends when I'm doing them.

Now, that guy from love actually would have nothing on my skills.

On Christmas Eve, they'll look like a 2 year old has wrapped them.

You've just reminded me to buy a sellotape dispenser!

I'm ok at it. Neat and tidy, nothing fancy.

Assymetric results so nopes.

But improved a bit over the years.

A good paper helps me. The too thin ones are a big pain.

No, but I’m not as bad as my mum who seems to think you wrap presents in cellotape.

I’m still trying to get into a present from 2008

I have one present left to buy, and they will be an online thingie so no wrapping needed.

Other than that, I am finished all of my Xmas wrapping … finished 2 weeks ago.

This is a new / recent approach, do all of my shopping in one weekend in mid-November.

I can wrap stuff in boxes reasonably well but anything else is a disaster and that’s why the wrapping gods invented gift bags!

Not bad at all at anything box shaped, although I generally dont do any fancy extra bows or anything. Im also a fan of gift bags for anything an awkward shape x

Mine look like they've been thrown at paper in successive layers of tape. Finished with a sticky bow and tag that falls off.

Blaming the dyspraxia, possibly lack of patience

People already wrapping presents, I haven’t bought any yet.

I am pretty good at the wrapping though, I find it useful to have a few small cardboard boxes saved back, anything that’s a pig of a shape gets put in a box, packed out with newspaper so it doesn’t jiggle around and then just wrapp the box, simples, also handy if you don’t want the shape of the pressie to give it away.

Maybe get some help from the rest of the family? Tell them it’s a game of pass the parcel

Great idea re the boxes.

So … boxes, sellotape dispenser, decent paper, sharp scissors and a flat surface with plenty of space … that gives a wrapper a fighting chance!

My son uses tinfoil and just puts a bow on it when wrapped, surprisingly effective lol!

Anything box shaped and I’m good - anything like a teddy then I’m saying my son wrapped it

C will do bows and tags it’s getting ripped off and thrown in the bin - I always feel like I can’t rip the wrapping paper off if it’s done well

I wrap like a 5 year old, so my granddaughter does my Christmas gift wrapping for me.

Takes her about an hour what would take me all day.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I'm famously bad at it. This year I've bought all of my neighbours these fancy Malteasers truffle type things and the box is slightly off the square. It took me 10 minutes to make a mess of wrapping the first one. The rest, I just put a label on
