I didn’t think I particularly fancied chav girls until I was standing at a bus stop in central london (suit, shirt, tie), and this girl in the full ensemble looked at me and gave me the full Catherine Tate “awww-riiiiigghhht!” greeting.

Turns out she liked blokes in suits.

It was something about her confidence that I found attractive.

Early to mid 2000s derogatory slang term for a young person (often of British origin) who comes from a low-end socio-economic background.

Some of these guys might try to tell you differently and say something about clothing, speech or whatever, but that's really what it is.

Agree with the description, dates are wrong though. Widely used in college when I was 17 so goes back at least to mid 90's

I've heard it started as a reference to people from Chatham (Kent) which was close to college but have no idea if this is true.
