Maybe it's me, maybe I'm old fashioned, but twice this week I have had someone do the whole jaw on carpet in amazement thing.

The someone is the same person in both occasions, and she is a casual FB

1/

sat with her having a coffee, phone goes, glance at it to see who it is as as it is not one of around six people I will answer to day and night and just did the "hang up and send a text saying I'm busy" swipe... she is OMFG

2/

sat here chilling after work on friday, front door goes, I haven't invited anyone around so I ignore it, it's her, this morning she tells me it was her, I say "and?" so she says why didn't you answer your door, said "got it in one, ***MY*** fucking door, opened to people I have invited to visit"... she is OMFG

posting this here, because it is interesting, because the FAB norm is "my fucking profile, just because you send me a message / wink doesn't mean you have any right to expect a reply"

But MY phone and MY front door, and suddenly people seem to expect the right for me to answer them.

Re the door episode, maybe she's not as 'casual' as you? And additionally, my opinion for what it's worth, someone comes to your door and you refuse to answer it, even although you don't know who it is???? I suppose it takes all types!!

Ironically, your post is basically about communication, so maybe you need to indulge in some with the lady concerned!

"And additionally, my opinion for what it's worth, someone comes to your door and you refuse to answer it, even although you don't know who it is???? "

precisely, I do not know who it is, as I am not expecting anyone, so why should I waste my time answering it?

If I answer a door every time someone knocks, whose door is it? certainly not mine as I have zero control over when it is opened or who to.

99% of the time it is just some knob advertising the local Councillor or trying to sell me some shit, and the remainder...

If you text a FB and say "fancy a fuck" and they reply in the affirmative fair enough, but you don't fucking drop by and knock on their door just cos you were in the area / passing FFS

Also, you don't answer your phone to anyone so if someone is calling to ask if they can come over for a particular reason and you don't answer how are you supposed to know that it is them knocking on your door?

For the first time ever (lol) in a way I agree with you.

I have a lot of numbers in my phone and so if I get a withheld or unknown number on my phone I don't answer it. Reason being its normally people trying to sell me stuff or do questionnaires.

Same with the door. Anyone who knows me knows I have a young child and wouldn't dream or turning up at my house unannounced. As I wouldn't to someone else's. although my door bell is annoyingly loud so if I'm not expecting someone I normally switch it off so I wouldn't know if someone was calling by anyway lol x

there is no possible important information that they could be privy to prior to a couple of dozen other people, who could all simply ring, text, or email this vital info to me in mere seconds.

I think your taking your Dom side to extremes. You need to show her respect as well as expect to receive it. You might not have invited her and didn't open door but when she told you it was her you should have apologised and explained properly. Not just said "and". I think sitting at home typing a message is a lot different to travelling to someone's house.

Well I, for one, totally agree with you!

Its your front door, your life, your time, your profile on here and yours to use as you wish.

In some Scandinavian countries it's perfectly normal to chose not to answer your door, even if the person knocking can see you clearly through the window. Its your privacy to retain or open up as you choose!

Good for you!

Oh and if it were someone I know trying to ring but they didn't have my number they should just leave a message and ill ring them back. Ex FIL who's number I deleted a loooong time ago tried ringing me repeatedly the other week. I just ignored it as I didn't recognise the number. Surely anyone with half a brain after 8 attempts would send a text of leave a message saying who it was?

I don't understand the "old fashioned" bit. I think it's bad manners answering the phone in company anyway, I always have mine off. I was in a meeting the other day with my boss and a couple of our external solicitors touting for additional business. My boss and I didn't think to carry our mobiles but the solicitors kept answering their phones and texting...we weren't impressed.

With the door: I don't answer it if I'm working from home as no one should be expecting me there. Not even my daughter would turn up without letting me know! Wouldn't let a fb in either, then again none of my playmates have lost leave of their senses to do that!

When my girls were teens they'd be livid that I could easily ignore the phone and the door if I wanted to.

I'd grin as they moaned at me and rushed to answer them.

I see it this way - ( if all my family are in of course )

If am PRE technology era. I've lived without. I know life goes on if you miss a call or don't know who was at the door.

If it's vital, people have a way of getting to you. If it's not - they leave you in peace.

My life, my house, my phone , my door , my decision.

I've heard bells and seen people before. It can wait if i'm busy.

Nothing riles me more than someone calling without invite. It's fucking cheeky.

I don't always answer my phone and don't like answering the door without knowing who's there....and I would be proper pissed off if a Fuckbuddy turned up without being invited!

Most people have the sense to text first.

I also don't show up at peoples doors without warning... I got sick of them not answering their doors

"I don't understand the "old fashioned" bit. I think it's bad manners answering the phone in company anyway, I always have mine off............"

Sopt on.

Answering or even checking your when you're with someone else is a bit like saying 'excuse me looking but it might be someone more interesting than you'.

Really? Do you dislike other male posters, you always seem to react like that unless its football related.

Not at all but thanks for the interest. Seems I have a stalker.

I was querying the OP's opinion that his post was 'interesting'.

Can you point out any other examples of your argument? Oh please don't flatter yourself , example, that would mean i would have to trawl through the forums and to be honest i haven't got the time or the inclination, but your reaction tells me I'm right. Cinders 2 Handyman 0.

Seems like you're seeking an argument but have backed down. As you see this as winners and losers.....

Handyman 3-2 Cinders. ?

You do though will bump a few of your snipes if you like.

If I like?

I would check again or try Spec savers.

You then went into a 'girly strop' (which was nothing to do with dyslexia)

These are 'examples' of my apparent dislike of male posters?

The last one wasn't directed at anyone in particular.

The last but one was a female poster.

But don't let that stop you from enjoying your moment of victory.

That was only looking through 10 threads you call a guy a fool in another and on the next one something I won't repeat. You can choose to suck up to the women and try and put guys down but you did ask for examples so its not about victory. It won't stop you being sarcastic or rude to guys but if some wake up and smell the coffee you have only yourself to blame if they decide to snap back or even shun or ignore you.

Can't ever remember calling anyone a fool - not a word I use and as for your other comment I have no idea what you're referring to.

As for asking for examples - it wasn't you as I was asking for examples from but you have involved yourself.

As for 'sucking up/putting down' that is how I post on the forums.

Its not a closed or private thread so anyone can answer not just the women.

The fool bit you did use i cant be bothered to look for the link now but its there and is a word you have used.

If you think its ok to suck up fine, if you think its ok to put blokes down then you might get tumble from the guys or worse. If you feel threatened by other guys, don't like the competition then having a dig doesn't do heaps for your image.

Of course not but once you knew it was her you could have explained that. Your supposed to like her if she is a fb. "

I *could* have done lots of things, I didn't do them for a reason, I disagree with them.

I don't see that her being a fuckbuddy in any way gives her any rights of access to my life and MY BLOODY HOME AND PRIVACY at any times other than those that we have mutually agreed upon.

Liking her has nothing to do with it.

It's a question of boundaries, and it appears that the younger women particularly have very vague notions of this at best.

I agree, i would be well ticked off if one of my FBs were to assume an answered door or phone call were a given.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't have any problems with her, mainly *because* I have certain _iews on boundaries.

If she wishes to meet me it has to be within my terms, and vice versa, and either those two sets of requirements work or they don't.

What this is about is her "OMG" attitude to me having boundaries such as these.

Amusing because she is on here with a profile claiming that no-one has any right to a reply if they wink or message her...

In which case should you really be talking about her in a thread if she has a profile on here?

Surely common courtesy would dictate that you don't do something like that?

Madam, common courtesy on your part would be to assume that being the gentleman I am, I did indeed discuss my intentions to post with her before saying anything.

I think people shud always answer front doors. I never ring ahead when i go visiting i just turn up. But if they say go away i wudnt be in a mood. But if your busy and the phone rings i think its ok to call them back later, same if yr too busy to text back

It's probably different for girls. Just turning up is a bit like a booty call without the call.

I can't imagine turning up unannounced at anyone's door.

I think you lot are kinda weird. When ive been collecting with the salvation army ive knocked on loads of peoples doors and they always seem to answer. Everyone i know would answer it too. What do you think people used to do before phones? They would drop by. If you dont like it your antisocial, you said you were only chillin so she wasnt interrupting much. If you didnt want sex just say. Wish someone wud turn up randomly to fuck me lol!
