It is a very “nice” problem to have until you realise that you actually are trapped then it is horrible because you literally can’t get out of it. I had to dramatically change my lifestyle to get out - that has worked out well but it was not pleasant at the time. | |||

I liked the tasks mostly just the constant micro management did it for me. I could sense that only getting worse. | |||

I was in that situation about 15 years ago, most senior position, huge salary, bonus, final salary pension, Bupa Gold, eventually got bored and resigned, best thing I ever a did. Took a took a huge pay cut working for for a start-up , created opportunities I never thought were possible. | |||

It’s quite a limited field considering all the kinds of treatments out there, how long it takes and how much additional work experience you’ll need, even to get the assistant clinical psychologist role and do the PhD. One of my kids really wanted it I’m 5-6 years in decided there are much better ways to help people, and much more accessible and cheaper ways to get qualified than becoming a clinical psychologist. There are NHS accredited one year programs in all kinds of areas, that are Masters level and allow you to practice, for a fraction of the price. Best advice is to start working in that field as a volunteer, for Mind or other similar charity | |||
