If you were able to travel to any period in the past where would you go and why?

The only condition is that you can’t change the course of history

I'd love to go back and be a fly on the wall in the rooms of power at certain points, not just see what we've learned as the legend since but the immediate reactions and actions we maybe never hear about.

Be near Lyndon Johnson when JFK was killed and see his face the moment he hears the news, that sort of thing

Ancient Egypt. I'd like to see if Cleopatra really was as beautiful as history says she was.

I’d do the Jesus days too, see if he really did do all those things

First secondary school. Pushed ahead with learning, made new good mates, school footie team, fell in love for first time, rock music...all good.

"Ancient Egypt. I'd like to see if Cleopatra really was as beautiful as history says she was. "

History doesn’t say she was beautiful, Hollywood does. History says she had wit and charm, rather than great beauty.

I do joke about the Jesus bit,

I must admit I'd love to go back to Rome the days of old and be involved in the orgys, but I really don't fancy using a spunge to wipe my ass,

Am I allowed to take bog roll back with me???

"Days of Jesus and find out if he was the messiah or just a very naughty boy "

What you would likely find out is that he didn't exist and the myth is based on several different characters.

I'm assuming that a stranger, who didn't speak the language, probably looked very different to the locals, etc may not be made very welcome. Perhaps I'd be pushed to becoming owned by some awful guy, or killed as a heretic pretty quickly . So I'd probably hold on to my ignorance of the past spectacles, etc. And preserve my access to modern medicine, rather than succumb to an olde bug, that's long since been made harmless.

The welcome given to boat refugees by Farage would probably be more loving than someone from today rocking up to the middle ages, stone age etc and trying to act as a bystander

It would be lovely to see the UK as it was, a few thousand years ago, maybe when doggerbank still existed.

I'd like to go 1000 years in to the future. I know the past. The past is mostly an open book.

The future however ? Completely unwritten and unknown. Isn't that exciting ? What marvels you cannot even imagine. What terrors you could barely dream of ? What changes have occurred and for the good or bad ?

And possibly, just possibly, flying cars. (I'm not holding my breath, to be fair).

The future is where it's at.

The past is a different country. They did things differently there.
