It was made as a Halloween film, however the actual theme of the movie is more centered around the Christmas aspect of it than the Halloween aspects.

It's essentially monsters obsessing over Christmas (either loving it or hating it). Halloween itself takes a back seat overall with the one exception being the opening song is "This is Halloween"

Noooo, my daughter and I rate that too.

In fact, our Christmas film canon is

Hogfather

Plus we used to love all those old pantos they used to show on ITV - I haven't seen one in years though.

A Christmas Horror Story, because I love anthology horror and it doesn't feel right to watch it any other time of the year!

For the warm fuzzies/nostalgia it would be any Pierce Brosnan 007 movie (always seemed to be one on over the Christmas/Boxing Day period when I was at the age Christmas was still exciting) or Home Alone.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (Yes, it's a Bond film set at Christmas!)

A Christmas Carol (1984 - an incredible cast, and it plays down the cartoonish aspects of Scrooge)

Gremlins (of course!)

Christmas Evil (A mentally-ill Santa fan wants to bring St Nick to the masses, with bloody results for those on the naughty list)

The Night-Train Murders (aka Late Night Trains - the European Christmas atmosphere is palpable, and nothing says festive like r***, perversion, murder and vengeance)
