Just had a ham and cheese sandwich and it was way too salty! Is it the ham, the cheese or the combination?

Is ham salty and if so why?

Genuine question...

Pork is cured in a salt/sugar/water and preservative type solution to make it ham. Some go a bit heavy on the salt.

Also the stronger a cheese is the more salty it is. So the combination of the two could be a very salty one x
