"Pink Floyd, not a fan of the others unless you go for Stairway to Heaven (but can ignore all the rest of LZs songs)"

Floyd wasn’t on the list.

Early Gilmore-era for me, before Waters started writing musicals but after the Barratt whimsy.

Not sure what you meant with "most consistent".

They had the shortest shelf life out of these 3.

None of their solo career went far either.

Didn't have many guest performances either.

I liked the Coverdale-Page album though.

Influential? Sure, but so are the other 2.

You're entitled to your opinion, just curious what you meant.

I thought about putting Pink Floyd in the mix, but then I'd need to include others.

List would have been long.

I'd say everyone into rock music knows at least a few songs from these 3.

Must disagree Robert Plant has had a fantastic solo career. Huge success with the Alison Krauss albums and he is clearly loving what he does now.

The Zeppelin body of work is better for being relatively smaller. Purple and Sabbath both released some clunkers along the way and some of their lineups were simply below par

For me it has to be Led Zeppelin. Genuinely innovative and flexible explored a variety of music.

I enjoyed the classic Purple and Sabbath albums too. Zeppelin live however we're simply in a different league

Kinda missed out on this era originally. More Maiden, Priest, Rainbow, Van Halen etc.

I did backfill my cd collection and learn some of the guitar parts, but essentially I find it a little sloppy.

More into prog metal like Dream Theater now. And shred guitar.

I missed out too, because they were great before I was born.

I discovered a lot of good music from the past in my teenage years.

Most music was crap in the 90's, so I listened to older legends.

I'm more of a classic or old school metal guy myself.

Most modern metal I listen has an 80's metal vibe.

Zep.

I love some of Deep Purple's & Black Sabbath's stuff.

But I love most of Zep's stuff.

There's a guy on YT who did a Led Zep vs The Who video. I agree with his opinion - The Who edge ahead...

My introduction to Heavy Metal/ Rock was the Deepest Purple album, which means I'm biased towards them.

However I think Led Zeppelin had a bigger impact and broke more boundaries, musically and socially.

Whilst I appreciate Black Sabbath, I don't think their influence was as potent, despite me being a huge Kyuss n Metallica fan.

So for me at least I'd go Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath.

That's just me though.

You do you and as long as we're all enjoying the music, it's all good
