Il Postino

Italian film about a Chilean poet directed by an Englishman, with a wonderful performance in the lead role by a dying actor who clung onto life to finish filming.

Beautiful. Funny. Heartbreaking.

Inception....the only film I've come out of the cinema and thought 'I didn't have much of a clue what happened there... but I know you were brilliant'....the second time I watched it I was awestruck with how amazing it was....

'Heaven'

This was the first of a planned Trilogy, it had two writers but it was Krzysztof Kieslowski being one of them that made me want to see it.

Kieslowski died before he could direct any of the Trilogy but thankfully Tom Tykwer got the job of directing the first. Wonderful writer, wonderful director and to cap it all, it starred Giovanni Ribisi and Cate Blanchet.

It's a love story and a tragedy of sorts. The whole thing is beautiful but the thing I love most about it is what isn't said, there are scenes where no words are spoken, it gives the viewer the chance to digest what has happened, it doesn't shout the answers at you, it doesn't explain every last detail or wring the life out of everything. It allows the viewer come to conclusions on their own.

I would love everyone to watch this film and have loaned it to loads of people...some of them have even liked it
