The yellow bench is for conversations.

I just read an interesting article of how there are some yellow benches in european counries, like in sweden, the bench represents a safe haven to facilitate a meaningful conversation and its aim is to fight loneliness.

The yellow bench is designated for people who want to talk, so if someone sees one sitting there, one can go up and start a conversation with them.

What is your view about it and did you also know about it? I didnt and I was pleasantly surprised about it and I think that is an excellent idea

I have heard if this and I think it's a great idea.

There are so many lonely people and it seems to be very difficult to bring them together in some way.

Conversation is the cornerstone of civilisation and should be encouraged in every form, we don’t have to agree on everything but we have to acknowledge some semblance of morality and kindness and in the future maybe the world wouldn’t seem so polarised, there should be these benches all over

Sadly I think you're right.

I often wonder why there isn't more specifically for lonely people. Churches used to be a good starting point but people aren't involved like they used to be

Wow that is brilliant. I do like my dog walks and chats to strangers but having this is a great way to tackle MH and loneliness etc.

But us Brits are different and we would never implement something like this surely.

It’s a fantastic idea. It would be nice to for people to actually make eye contact and strike up conversations with people.

It would be an improvement on the socially awkward way of living that seems to becoming normalised.

Yes - schools use them to address loneliness and also bullying..... They make them brightly coloured and stencil positive messages on them

There's such stigma attached to loneliness you'd have to be quite brave to sit on one. Also how awful if you sat there for an hour and nobody sat next to you

I think this is a lovely idea.

I love conversation. I have a mantra ‘to have a conversation is to have a relationship. If you’re not having a conversation then you’re not in a relationship’.

I love, the concept and the intent.

Yes, that is right, there are many lonely people too and this seems to be a good idea to bring them together

Nice concept, sad we have in these days of huge levels of communication we seem to be lonelier than ever before.

So much non personal contact, due to social media whatever happened to the simple chit-chat over a drink in coffee bars pubs or just on a bus? If you simply smile, say hello you are looked at sideways more often than not.

Hi Shag x.. Maybe start a bench in forums.

Ramsgate in Kent has some bench shelters which I kissed in.

Bromley used to have benches msybe try it and see, reminds me of Forrest Gump

It's a great idea, but it would backfire easily.

They would paint those benches pretty soon.
