Sick of seeing these 'Cash for Gold' ads on the telly..

Has anybody used them ?

Saw "Gold"...thought to myself...great, someone's got the choccies in....bugger....lol

Adverts are doing my head in too....with gold at over a $1000 an ounce, why would I want to sell it to some tosser dressed as a pirate (WTF is that all about anyway) for $200 an ounce?????

havent sent any off but know people who have....took a few old earrings a couple of necklaces and a bracelet into a shop in bristol (these are popping up all over the place too) and they gave me £200! i was made up....it was all old tat that i would never wear again....so now is the best time if you do have anything you can sell

Anybody who is prepared to put their 'unwanted gold' into an envelope then pop it into a letter box, needs a real serious talking to.

No way on Gods earth would I do that even if I was lucky enough to have a few bits of old gold lying around the house.

Take it to your local jeweller, then try a few others, you'll get twice as much money as these cowboys are offfering.

They probably will pay as they promise, but the amount that they pay is likely to be half the price that you'd get from your local jeweller of goldsmith.

Lets be fair, television advertising isn't cheap, expecially peak time advertising and the cash to pay for it has to come from someplace ...

My ex used one recently. Total scam. Should have been worth over £200 (according to my own research) but they offered her £30. When she asked for the Gold back they offered £60 (a one-time offer).

Three weeks and she's still not had the Gold back.

If you search cash for gold scam on Google, you'll see an eye opening video and interview with their CEO. Real slimeball.

I keep on telling people the same thing They are all com merchants.

It is not illegal for them to offer whatever they want from 50p to 1000 pounds it's up to you to refuse.

There was a bit on this morning about it today (off work this week)

They set up each one of the companies offering cash for gold and all of them came back with a fifth of what the gold was actually worth

£60 for just under £300 worth LoL

You can get better prices over the counter at any pawn shop in the high street

I've wondered about this recent influx of companies offering this service... and why there isn't a reported increase in heists of the lorries that deliver all this gold to them! The criminal fraternity must have had a looksee and thought, "Hmm, let's make some easy money here."

Unless, of course, it's the feckin crooks you're sending all this high value gear to in the first place!

These people offer a lot less than the gold is actually worth, sadly there are many people at he moment suffering very hard times and these people are banking on the fact they will so desparate to make some extra cash and have no knowledge of what their gold is really worth. Theives!

It's been on the BBC news today about these sites and they tested them.

Sent £500 worth of gold to a number of these places to be offered rediculously low amounts for them from £65 to £245.

Much better off going to a gold bullion dealer apparently.

There are always people ready and waiting to take advantage it would seem.

Exactly, and it seems utterly obvious to me that this would be the case.

sold my old unwanted gold on ebay but looked up the gold price first and put on a reserve price. have done that twice now and got a good price- would rather do that than send my gold in the post ffs
