Is turning the other cheek still a thing or now you can post a review on the internet, or post a comment about someone taken that away.

I see more and more negativity against businesses and even about people in general let alone groups of people on here, such as men or couples.

Have we forgotten or learned that turning the other cheek is no longer an option.

I totally get that if something effects you personally be it bad service, a bad product then say something. I totally get that if someone does something towards you then voice your opinion, is it not better to voice it to them as they may not have realised they have done something to upset you, before you publish it for all to see.

Or are we better to just leave it, not waste our time and energy?

I think I am just a little tired of seeing so many negatives towards people or over generalisation of a group of people.

We should be leaving reviews on things that are positive as well.

The media which so many love teaches us that bad news sells so its inherent in our use of forums to see the bad side of life don't you think, although i get what you mean

I think that for me I try and think “are they as wound up as me, are they sat inside bothered about their actions”

I agree that to “vent” can be good but I was taught once “write the email, the text, the letter, sleep on it, if you feel the same in the morning then send it”

Was it ever a thing ? It’s a value that some people choose based on beliefs, got nothing to do with the internet or trip advisor!

it’s about personal transformation vs religious rule keeping (eye for an eye), and the principle of last is first.

For me it’s not based on beliefs. It’s more about wasting my energy on things that the person or business don’t really care about.

Maybe I need to start yoga

I contacted 3 different and unrelated businesses last year through their preferred contact option of FB.

They advertised their wares every week through a business page.

One failed to respond at all, the second replied with a quote but didn't turn up on the agreed date or in fact at any time.

The third told me in 4 separate messages they would be there the following day to see what was required but again didn't appear.

Someone on that business page started a rant one night about stupid customers changing their minds or not being flexible.

I gave the other side of the story and most agreed with me that there were 2 sides to every story including the guy who started the thread.

Someone else I'd never heard of attacked me head on calling me every expletive in the book and said it was idiots like me contacting busy workmen through social media that was the main problem.

He wanted to know why people didn't call to business premises or lift the phone and ring them rather than using FB?

He said he would advise everyone on the page to block me and never have anything to do with me.

The irony wasn't lost on me that a businessman advertising his business solely on FB should ruin his reputation in one angry rant.

I hadn't reviewed his business because it had nothing to do with my comments but his reaction spoke volumes.

People see the internet as being a safe space to vent. They're annoyed/hurt/frustrated and want to share that with others. Ruin another's reputation without really thinking about it.

I think that negative reviews/comments are quite often knee-jerk reactions from a place of meh. It would be good if people went to those directly involved but I don't know... people want to hurt/affect others and the internet affords them a place to do that more easily, with far less consequence.

I'm a bit bemused by it all.

Yesterday someone had posted a picture of two cars on Facebook, complete with visible number plates. They claimed that one of the cars had opened their door on the other and we're concerned that the car might be damaged. Wouldn't the better option have been to just leave a note under the windscreen wiper of the car they suspected was damaged? If the incident happened at all.

Is it a desire to be seen to be doing something about perceived injustice without actually having to take real action?
