Especially on first meet, shabby chic or casual or a whistle

"Especially on first meet, shabby chic or casual or a whistle "

Nope, as long as it's too over the top. That's something I would need to warmup too

Carlisle usually

As long as they're clean and made am effort I don't find their personal style particularly relevant.

Their style doesn’t matter so much as long as they look like they have made some effort into getting ready.

I think first impressions count but that’s not expensive clothing related

Never used to matter as they would have no clothes on not long after

Matters for a lot of people. It shows you put some effort

This is why I’ll only meet on October 31st, I can have a back up excuse if they think I look like a morgue corpse

So rocking up in leggings and a hoody is no good?

Smartly dressed or smart casually dressed it's effort and obviously smelling nice after

brushed teeth, bath/shower and a splash of perfume

I went what I consider smart casual to my first social meet, and was told I was overdressed. In hindsight I should have just slathered myself in marmite and held a rose between my teeth..

Dressing up is pretty much the basis for my meets.

I personally think it matters.

If I'm meeting someone I will make sure to wear my best tracksuit, and the converse with the least amount of holes.

I expect similar effort from them too or I'll walk

I can just imagine a guy saying to a meet sorry I know you’re stunning but the meet is off because you’re wearing leggings and a hoodie

Or crocs, they are half way there

I like them to be wearing clean clothes - nice shirt - not a polo shirt or sports too - and decent trousers... And most importantly.. A belt..oh yes.... A belt

No dress sense doesn't but dressing in clean clothes does.

There are a few styles of dress I find more attractive than others though

Yes but it doesn’t have to smart, you can tell when effort has been made regardless and that is what matters.

I've had this! He said he'd leave if I turned up wearing that.

?

It matters to me, in all walks of life...first impressions count and all that. When meeting, I always expected people to be dressed appropriately for the venue, as I was...thankfully it never happened, but if anyone had ever turned up to a smart bar in tracksuit bottoms and trainers I would have just left. I did meet someone wearing leggings and a hoodie, but we were going for a walk in the Peaks so I'd have looked silly turning up in a dress and heels.

We always make an effort and for a meet/party/club expect others to do likewise, those that don't we ignore.

We had a guy who told us he would be wearing his tracksuit to a social at a nice hotel bar. We cancelled him. Either he was not making an effort or his dress sense was too young for us. Whatever it was we would not be compatible.

You should make an effort.

We had a social with a farmer who had come straight from work.Apparently there had been some sort of emergency with some escaping sheep and he didn't have time to change!

I like someone nicely dressed I'm not going to lie, but in honestly I like people to come as they are and feel comfortable in what they choose to wear. The thought of someone trying to impress me rather than just being themselves actually makes me uncomfortable.

Bonus points for jeans/trousers that are a snug fit on the guys though because the perve me in me really likes that.

Does for me, which is why I will always make the effort. I turn up looking and smelling how I would expect the other person/s to be like.

0ut shopping today I happened to notice how scruffy so many people look in jeans.

Conversely, few outfits have ever looked more incongruous than those of Andy Fairweather Low guesting, while dressed in suit and tie, for for more conventionally dressed rock stars.

Absolutely it does. We wouldn't shag anybody who can't compete with Gyles Brandreth's 80s jumper collection.
