I put myself as large when I joined then got so many men telling me I was curvy not large. I changed it to curvy then got abuse saying I was fat.

25% obese and 37% are overweight. But it’s because they’re choosing to be that way and are totally happy about it, nothing to do with poor quality, cheap, highly palatable food and increasingly low levels of activity

Go back 50 years virtually no one was fat, im not being insulting I used to be 5 stone heavier. Why was I 5 stone heavier? Because I ate too many calories. We are in an obesity crisis, 65% of adults are overweight, it's all down to eating too many calories.

remember when I was at school the class had one child who was larger. They were bullied for it. Most children were not like this and those that were had a medical issue.

The problem is what kids have today that makes them overweight.

Games consoles, internet access, mobile phone to facetime, energy drinks, abundance of fast food outlets and phone apps to deliver it.

And on top of that a poor standard of parenting that would rather be in Facebook and cheat on their partner when they are at work.

Also the benefit system has given the opportunity for parents to be single and that removes an important development of the child.

Society doesn't care enough these days. Just likes to point the finger and throw insults instead of looking at why.

I like curves, like petite too... Lots on FAB that say curvy but are well past curvy though.. But like us men saying we're athletic when the only form of exercise is bicep curls lifting a pint to your mouth.

Borderline, that's fine. Well past, then just be honest.

Just say what you are and be proud.. Everyone likes different body types, and that's all good.

I couldn’t find one that said absolutely fucking gorgeous so I picked curvy cus I’ve got big tits innit (tongue firmly in cheek).

Because you can be curvy while large or small because it’s a question of proportionality.

Curvy is also seen as sexy and who doesn’t want to put their best foot forward on here.

I think some of the other labels aren’t great large may be accurate for some but seems more appropriate for ordering food.

And fabulous is absurdly kind of camp in its love of fat. More power to the women and that consider themselves fabulous but it feels silly

For me it’s Pizza! I’m a size 12 but don’t have big boobs but a big butt so I class myself as curvy. If you mean why do bigger ladies put “curvy” when they maybe should be putting large, ample or fabulous! Simply because they can and want to. I see a lot of guys writing “hung” or average when they are clearly neither of those things. The crazy world of fab I guess, and each to there own I say

You started it, this always happens with the use of the word curvy. You'll get those who complain that people hide being overweight by using the term. And those who suggest slim people can't be curvy. Think that covers all these kind of threads on the forum on the subject. People just can't be nice about the subject for some reason, even though they can just look at a picture.

I’ve said this for ages, the curvy thing covers about 15 different body shapes, and it’s fine if people pick that, but it doesn’t tell me anything!!

Jenny, could be slim. Curvy or Athletic. That’s how I see it.

Do some research and educate yourself lol , calories in and calories out that's it . You cant change the laws of thermodynamics . I have a degree in nutrition and kinesiology.

So you quoted 70s and 80s as decade's which saw less obesity. The 80s saw a rise in obesity levels, this rise has continued since then.

This is because we followed the advice of a low fat diet. This was first started in the 50s in the States. Remember as kids we were told Plain Jacket Spuds, boiled rice, pasta and bread with margarine was the way to go. So of that's the case why is everyone, not you, getting fatter.

Maybe it's because all the recommended foods contain tons of carbs. To make food low fat and palatable means adding sugar to it, otherwise it would be tasteless.

Carbs are just sugars. If you ingest too much sugar your body cannot burn it off and whats not used is stored as fat, making people curvier.

I'm not saying that a calorie restricted diet won't help you lose weight but that it's carbs that are the real enemy.

If that's not true how do you explain your own example of people not being obese, when they were eating butter, no low fat foods and drinking milk that wasn't semi skimmed.

Strange how they didn't really know about counting calories but ate a diet with a higher fat content and managed to stay slim. It was because they weren't stuffing themselves full of carbs x
