"Nope!!! Stay your own boss ......... much much easier " Is it? I've never worked "for someone" and get offers every week. A total stress free existence sounds pretty appealing right now x

"I have owned my own conpany worked for myself for many years since leaving the military and I'm knackered. Is life easier just working for someone else? X" Actually, having BEEN self employed / run your own company is one of the absolute WORST things you can put on a CV for an employer... re-write it as "contracting for Acme Ltd" and not owned and operated Acme Ltd

" You used to make Wiley coyotes gadgets? How cools that, weren't the best at catching that fucking smarmy road runner though were they " lol... there are however some things you just need to be an employee to learn, for example some of the stuff you learned in the services, no self employed civvy can afford the training.
Reply privately | Reply in forum | Reply +quote |
"You said you was in the military and you've never worked for anyone since so working for a civvy boss is a challenge in itself not to mention you've spent years doing it your way. Itd be a shame to give up on a company you've built yourself, but if its killing you to keep it going then you've got to put your own happiness first. But you don't get rich digging another mans ditch " Your totally right Mr Goodfuck. I very much doubt I could take an order off a mere mortal but I do wonder if its easier x

"Yeah it would be easier but when your self employed you can pay whatever taxes your creative accountant wants you to and finish early on a friday. I work both do 4 on 4 off and work for myself when I'm off. Iv gotta fund this rock n roll lifestyle somehow ha" I INVENTED THE ROCK AND ROLL LIFESTYLE (if that means being in bed at 9 totally exhausted) Keith Richards has nothing in me. Fact x

I wish.....not only my companys board but the parent company's board breathing down our necks daily telling us how to do our jobs better than we are despite meeting each and every single target we are set. And always with the threat of redundancy hanging over us..... Stress free exists possibly but might suggest that comes without some of the trappings....

X" I'm in the same situation I'm a joiner and work for myself. And it just feels like I'm grafting my bollocks off for nothing!! Dealing with customers that think I can just wait weeks for my money. I normally have a few grand float to keep me going but that's dissapeard. I'd be better off flogging my van and tools and getting a job stacking shelves in tesco...seriously. At least you'd get holiday pay maybe a company van/car tax and ni paid for so you doing have a big bill at the end of the year. I know I've seriously lost heart with it

It does grind you down but for me being my own man is worth the hardship if that makes sense. Nothing wrong with stacking shelve in tesco but if you've worked hard to get your trade and clients then that's sonething to be applauded and proud of I think x

"I have owned my own conpany worked for myself for many years since leaving the military and I'm knackered. Is life easier just working for someone else? X" The grass is always greener !!!!!! Or not as I found out.... Worked for myself for years and seemed to be wearing me down so sold out to a larger companie....... Worked just as hard, as many hours and still ended up stressing about it because I wanted to give the same service I alwas had !!!! but it was all to line someone else's pocket!!!!!!!!!!!!! Working for myself again much happier Ps, having someone as a boss is very hard if you have worked for yourself ......

"Ah well thanks I appreciate that. I suppose We don't have to answer to anybody and please our selves. I'm just having doubts wether it's worth the stress. I don't even want to be rich, I just want to be comfortable" I am a firm believer that if you work hard it will come together sooner or later. You just gotta grin and bear the stress and concerntrate on upsides I suppose. Chin up chippy dude x

"Having worked for others for 25 years I've decided to work for myself and in the process of setting up my own business The motivation is to get the rewards for all my hard work and get away from office politics and bosses who take credit for my efforts " Good luck me old shipmate i really mean that. It takes balls like balloons to do what your doing. Hope it goes well for you x

"I guess it depends on the other options really. I'm self employed but before that I worked for a big company, in that job I was never able to switch off when leaving work so the fact I can't now doesn't bother me really. Yeah I work a stupid amount of hours a week and turn out taking calls and writing emails when I shouldn't be working but at least I can make myself believe its on my own terms not for someone else. I do the odd contract where I technically work for someone else but I don't think I'd be able to go back to working for someone else full time. Only you can decide what's best, but whenever I've been in a position like yourself I've always talked it over with as many other people I can (well those who I respect the opinion of) as they can often put a different spin on things. Good luck with whatever you decide x " Thank you Ma'am I think it was just a bad day and a long few months and a job offer this morning that got me thinking about it. But I know I'm to supercool to work for some bellend I wouldn't be able to respect. I'd be sacked within a week. Fact x

"Could you do both for a while to test the ground? Take on one of the offers as a contract for 9 months to a year?" I already sort of do. I take on short term contracts with a few companies. (These are the ones that want me to work solely for them ) It means I'm a lot busier as I'll have more than one job in multiple countries running at the same time. If I took a "job" then I'd have a lot more time to myself. Not sure that made any sense lol x

Clients may want you but they would also want to know that they won't be left in the lurch if anything happened to you?

"Is life easier just working for someone else? X" Depends on the job and who you work for. I have started my own business, and after a lot of investment and hard work, it is slowly starting to starting to pay off. Independence is a key factor in the long run. Effort and hard work usually yield rewards that you cannot expect when toiling for someone else's benefit

"I have owned my own conpany worked for myself for many years since leaving the military and I'm knackered. Is life easier just working for someone else? X" The trick is to raise your charges if you are in demand. Enabling you to work less and control demand.

Deal with it, put measures in place. 50% halfway through and the other on completion. Stick to it and if they don't like it don't deal with them. If you are good it won't hurt your business.
