Always a sexy subject! So, my period has been AWOL for 3mths. Not that I'm complaining! But it literally just upped and left without so much as a farewell. I'm 1000% not pregnant, and I'd had tests twice earlier this year for hormone levels, both were borderline... I know I could/should go back to GP, but frankly can't be bothered as waiting time on appointments, time of work to take em blah, blah...

Just curious if anyone else's just left without so much of a hint they were ending?

Only insofar as my uterus was removed

A couple of friends have said theirs disappeared for months then they’d get a random one then nothing for a few more months

The timing went awry for about six months and then they went and never came back. Oh happy day. Except for the night sweats and the sore boobs and the memory loss etc

I kinda hope that’s how it happens for me, but all evidence points to it won’t be that easy. Currently in peri.

I might be wrong but you reach menopause when you have not had a period for 12 months, after 50 years of age, and for 24 months before that.

All that time leading to that it’s called perimenopause, when you have symptoms of menopause but your periods have not stopped.

The symptoms vary from mild to severe and cover many areas of every day life.

I’m still having regular periods every month and I wish I didn’t.

That happened to me at first, thought I was pregnant too, nearly had a heart attack lol so went to the doctor who confirmed that it was peri menopause I have....

Since then I hadn't had a period for 6 months, then a year and thought after 18 months I wasn't going to have any more but no, I had another period.... I had a procedure done which should stop the periods full stop (it's a normal procedure) so I have to presume it has worked!! I'm enjoying not having periods, easier to plan stuff!! You just have to go with it!

Yep! It's a minefield I guess... I assumed I was entering peri late last year/early this year. Tests, and GP stated not... And now well nothing recently. Bodies are a law unto themselves I suppose? I'll enjoy the break regardless of if they return or not. Presumably it'll be at a most inconvenient moment if it does

Mrs have been off and on since starting menopause.

Earlier on this year GP upped her HRT then she got a period for like 6 week's.

She's always complaining (and justifiably so) swinging aside she's had more thing's shoved up her vagina than she can count.

Endometriosis doesn't help, thankfully things finally seem to be settling down unfortunately her libido seems to be going back to pre menopause state, which is to say normal not the rampant sex maniac she's been for the past ten years.

It doesn't bother me as long as she's healthy that's all that matters, we've had enough sex for two lifetime's.

You ladies don't half have to put up with some crap.

I guess the only way to know if you don't have periods (I've had a coil fitted for 15 years so not had a period in years) is by getting tested? Not that I'm bothered to know just curious to know maybe

I think the general consensus is that tests don’t work and you need to go by symptoms, as hormones fluctuate daily.

At least that’s what my GP says.

I’m also not too bothered but it has messed up my whole sex life, as besides condoms, which is not disputable, I still need some kind of additional contraception and nothing seems to agree with me.

My symptoms stop start, was having hot flushes and energy dips. Now it's erratic periods and constant crying or feeling like I want to cry along with not sleeping properly

Menopause roulette is not a fun game at all

Yep cos my iron was low when I was peri menopausal, had the mot blood test and started on supplements, they returned and then slowly tapered off over the following 2 years, I've not had one for 3 years now and am hopefully at the end of my menopause

They don't do any kind of test for menopause up here.

If you're of a certain age and present with certain symptoms, the assumption is that you're likely to be experiencing menopause

My periods started to get irregular in my 30s. Anything from 2 to 6 months between them until I finally had my last one aged 44.

You might just stop getting periods and might not get other symptoms, as all women experience menopause differently.

I found HRT made a huge difference to me.
