Have got 500 grams for dinner tomorrow and after doing something a little bit different with it ..does anyone have any recipe ideas they could share ?

Even with one fish not mixed can do a fish pie ... poach fish in milk little pepper when done flake it into peaces and keeping mike you cocked fish in .. make a sauce with butter flour add fish mike and maybe some grated cheddar cheese now add fish in head proof dish and on top mashed potatoes with cheese in bake and brown under grill. You can add hard boiled eggs with poach fish too that's really nice ,

thats what I normally do which is very nice but as Im currently unemployed im trying to put a little imagination into our evening meals as I have time to do it which Ive never previously been able to do

Oh well that's easy, just add a sprig of parsley and a light drizzle of HP artistically around the plate.

Chowder

Poach the fish in milk, remove fish and flake, keep the milk.

Fry an onion till soft, add diced potatoes and cook just slightly.

Add the milk and some pepper.

Bring to a gentle boil till potatoes are cooked and begin to break down and thicken the milk slightly. Taste and if too strong add more milk.

Just before serving add the flaked fish back and warm through.

You can add a handful of frozen peas but it's not a classic ingredient. You can also add a little garlic when softening the onion.

SOUTH WEST & WALES

Poach the fish in milk for no more than 4 - 5 mins. Remove from pan and put on a baking tray. ( Keep the poaching milk) Top with a handful of grated cheese and breadcrumbs. Grill gently to toast cheese and crumbs. While fish is grilling, whisk a dollop creme fraiche into the milk, add salt and pepper and a handful of chopped chives. Steam some spinach , put the fish on it then make a pretty pattern with the creme fraiche and chive sauce all over the top. Lush.

Kedgeree?

This is my version, may not be authentic, however, it tasted good.

Poach the smoked haddock in water, and save the poaching water for boiling the rice later.

When cooled, flake the fish off the skin into chunks. Mix with some lime juice and set aside.

Boil some Basmati rice in the poaching liquid, adding more water if required.

Hard boil a couple of eggs, allow to cool then roughly chopped.

Slice some mushrooms and fry in chopped garlic and oil until they are done (I like my mushrooms dry, and not soggy/slimy).

Slice some onions and fry in chopped garlic and ginger until nicely browned.

Toast some flaked almonds or get some already toasted instead.

Have some sultanas, chopped coriander, and the juice of a lime ready.

I like to use Patak's Biryani or Balti curry paste for my kedgeree, however, feel free to make your own or use another brand/type/whatever.

Mix sufficient curry paste of choice with the rice and all the ingredients, season with salt and pepper and may be more lime juice to taste.

I used to make this in large quantity sufficient for my ex hubby and I for lunch for a week, as we loved it!
