of a holiday or great weekend. Where was it, who was with you and what made it so special that you want to tell and maybe even recommend it to others? Only legal stuff please

I think one of my best was taking our kids to Turkey on two occasions. It was so lovely, clean and the people were sooo friendly. Just two perfect holidays.

Mine , until the day I die , was the day we got married .

I had always been too hard working and shy and within the space of a year I had met, got engaged and married someone who I utterly loved with all my heart.

At each step I wondered if I was pushing my luck and wondered why she should want me but she did and I still feel blessed .

So there you are .

Aw that is really really nice to hear... (I feel bad for posting on whether marriage is going to be a thing of the past yesterday) - well done you and long may it continue xx

My first view of the Pyramids at Giza, was driving from the airport to our hotel and they just appeared. The view literally took my breath away and I burst into tears. My Father was stationed in Egypt during WWII and I had and still have all his photos from then. I had said I would take him back, but unfortunately he died before it was possible. He told me he hadn't much money, but what he had he wanted me to spend on going to Egypt.

He gave me my love of Egypt and Egyptology, I like to think he was with me on that first and subsequent visits

Sounds like a very meaningful holiday in more than one way

Apart from the births of all three of my children, at which I was present, I'd have to say that the next best memory I have of a non-sexual nature was being asked by my best mate and his bride-to-be to walk her down the aisle and give her away. Her father had died the previous year and she had no uncles to turn to, nor any brothers of her own. To walk someone down the aisle at the age of 25 is something not many men get to experience and it was an honour to do it.

i am kind of mad, so, when i got married (age 20) we/i decided we should do a jack kerouac hitch hike across america. we flew to orlando with hardly any money and hitch hiked and slept rough until we got to san fransisco. it took us 9 lifts and 3 weeks but we stayed in new orleans in this blokes house for a week on the way, and some mexican removal men took us across 3 states and let us sleep in their motel room. i cant begin the adventures we had and also some not so good moments but i have never forgot a moment of it andnor has my ex and my kids think its amazing lol when i tell them stuff about it.

Well I went for a year long holiday to Australia so that would have to be the best! Haha

The stand out 5 days though is where I flew from Melbourne to Alice springs an rented a car and drove to Ayers Rock, kings canyon and all the other sites along the way. I then drove back to Melbourne via Adelaide an the great ocean road. Worked out to be about 2100 miles!

French war cemeteries in 1972 with my parents.

(grandad and a couple of uncles buried there)

How so many people could do that to each other has stuck with me ever since.

Scuba diving in Sharm last year....The most magical day and really did believe I owned the world......

Was also the day i found out my ex had cheated on me for our entire relationship. Didn;t think so at the time but now realise it was the best day of my life after all...Gave me the courage to walk away.....and have never looked back....

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

My friends final birthday party in Lyme Regis almost this time last year. The sun was hot, for March, and we all sat in the stony beach having a very grand picnic before going back to the house for the most wonderful party. Sitting outside being snuggled by a man under the stars and drinking Laphroaig, singing along to people playing guitars, piano and melodica. Seeing my friend looking well and happy surrounded by his friends and seeing his wife relax and not worry about him.

Waking up the next morning and making breakfast for the 14 of us that stayed over and then walking along the Cobb in bright, warm sunshine and eating fish and chips.

Two perfect days at a very bleak time in my life.
