I'm due another eye surgery and can't wear eye make-up for four days before and probably about a month afterwards.

Without. I've never really learnt how to do it, hate the feeling of it on my skin unless very light. I'd say I wear it maybe once a month? Going makeup shopping with my favourite pixie soon... I'm slightly worried I'll spend hours just staring blankly at the counters.

With... I never go completely make up free. Bare minimum is brows and mascara, if I'm leaving the house then lipstick or lip gloss.

I used to enjoy doing a full face, but it just took too long every day, sometimes I'll do shadow, a bit of face powder and blush for social occasions.

Without, I just feel fake and as if my skin can't breath if I have loads on. I'm a tinted moisturizer kind of girl and mascara when I can be bothered be it going out of just normally.

It's the same with nails. I have had my nails done a few times, but again, I don't like it for a long time as I feel as if my nails can't breath x

I only ever wear a tiny dash of eyeliner and a bit of lipstick. But…

The lipstick ends up smeared all over the person I’m doing the sex with

And if we’re doing it right… the eye makeup turns into a raccoon eyes bandit mask.

Lockdown had me so used to not wearing makeup that I actually left the house without it on. I wouldn't have done that before.

I have pigmentation problems and get very conscious of it but it's actually calmed down a lot and now I can leave the foundation off and not be phased so much.

I dislike leaving the house without mascara on though. I at least like to look like I do actually have some eye lashes.

That said I've always worn little makeup. Just to even the skintone and mascara for lashes.

I always find this funny, not this particular comment but the phrase itself. The number of times I've seen a guy say this to a woman, about how she looks great natural etc but turns out he has never seen her without, he just doesn't realise it. Just because it's not the whole 9 yards on her face doesn't mean she has not enhanced it with subtle application of something - of which there is nothing wrong with either way.

Yeah, I feel nude without my mascara when I’m about to go anywhere. I tried eyelash extensions for awhile but they’re impractical and flimsy. Loved the way they looked but hated the way they felt… I never wear makeup at home though.

Indeed. Though Other animal species do it for different reasons in different ways too. Lots of African wildlife cover themselves in dirt and Mud to protect from the sun. Some birds will put "items" in their feathers to attract a mate etc.

As with everything, the level of self awareness of humans, and our course of evolution has gone beyond it just being about the simple things of enhancing through body decoration.

Some of us genuinely have been/are seen eau naturel by our partners. Having first met as 11yos in school, then our first "night" together, I wasn't wearing makeup (because I never have, other than infrequently). He sees me every single day without a single adornment on my face. I think he'd freak out if I DID put makeup on, he'd wonder WTF I was up to
