Technically speaking the earth is hollow. There are subterranean caverns all over the place but an inner sun?

I mean, who knows anymore? The facts of these UAP that have been revealed under oath from the pilots who were taking reading and trying to catch up with them, it's likely that we understand about 0.01% of reality (like 95% of statistics, i made that one up on the spot )

One theory I've heard from people who're not flat earthers is that there are only a tiny number of real believers and most others just use it as a way to improve their debating technique. I doubt the veracity of this though.

As for the genuine believers, there's a great documentary called "Behind the Curve" that looks into them - to me it felt like they were just looking for community and found it there, so they refuse to listen to reason. The ending of that movie is simultaneously hilarious and depressing! I'd recommend it for that scene alone.

My ex-wife's grandfather worked as an engineer on the Humber Bridge. It was on its completion the longest single span suspension bridge in the world and retained that accolade for nigh on 20 years.

But it wasn't plain sailing building it. In fact the project nearly, very nearly failed and got shelved as they could not build the two towers without it cracking and collapsing.

The dawn of more powerful computers in the 70's yielded an answer: They ended up building the two towers apart at the top (i.e. not parallel to each other) and then bent the "road" (i.e. the bridge itself) around the curvature. That's right! The thing is so long it bends around the Earth.

Still waiting for a Flat Earth enthusiast to explain precisely why they would allow a project run so far over-budget that the bridge will never actually pay for itself. This after sleepless night after sleepless night for those involved trying to solve a problem that, according them, does not exist.

Imagine being in the middle of an ocean, you look south and see the curve of the earth, you then look west and see the curve of the earth. When you look south west, you should see a dip where the two curves join - you don't, so the earth must be flat!

Some do it as a wind up. I've seen it take place and it is glorious to see. The majority actually believe it.

Some don't believe it exactly, at least in terms of logic and science. They believe it more because it's simply the opposite of what they have been told, and their "don't believe everything you are told mantra runs and is rooted that deep, they buy in to it.
