Fridge advice

Random thread I know but does anyone know how long you need to leave your fridge plugged in before you put food in. I know its 24 hours to let the gases settle before plugging in but not sure about food going in.

We have never bothered about it just left it a cpl of hours then used it as normal.

Never had a problem.

You can put things in fridge straight away but if you want them going in a cold fridge leave for 3/4 hours after plugging in

Straight away .... the temp soon gets low and best getting cool than warm sat not in the fridge .... but if you cant wait then put the spray cream in the freezer for a short while first lol

Ruby I have worked for Hotpoints delivery team there guidlines are 4 hours after you have moved the appliance you can plug it in .

You can put your frozen produce in strait away as it is an insulated box and will keep your products chilled for upto 24hrs if you keep the door closed .you do not have to wait to fill it up just the four hours untill you plug it in .

I wouldnt put anything in before 24 hours. As two people dying here right now with food poisoning, be careful how you treat what you stick in your mouth

Put it in situ, leave 24 hrs to settle, antibacterial clean even if its new, switch on set temp then fill with healthy food.

To be honest 12 hours to allow the gasses and oil to separate is more than adequate when plugging it it then, fridges work best with nothing inside but as they only come down to +5 it doesn't take long (around 3/4 hour) freezers on the other hand actually work better with product inside, if you give it a hour for a freezer and put frozen products in it soon reaches the desired -18 ( catering engineer here )

If the fridge is at ambient temperature when it is switched on after allowing the gas to settle for the recommended length of time, I would start loading it with bulky items that are already chilled, such as cartons of milk, fruit juices, cans and bottles of soft drinks etc...

As for the freezer, I would probably have a few milk bottles filled with water frozen at the ready for initial loading purposes.

After a couple of hours, I would start loading the rest.

if it was transported up right 5 min will do if it was on it's side 2 hours is ok.you can put the food in anytime
