Fab, I think we can agree, can. E an unforgiving place. You have to keep expectations low, your chat pleasant, and your wits about you as you navigate the unhinged.

You have to develop a hide of iron to keep going. My age helps. Enough knockbacks than a cricket ball, you keep plugging on. How did you develop your hide to keep you in the fab game?

I came in knowing that I would appeal to very few people, and that my chances of meeting them, slimmer still.

I think some come in expecting that every person here will fancy you enough to wanna bump uglies. The knockbacks then create a resentment.

No, you don't. I refuse to develop an iron hide. I don't need to.

I'm always going to be surprised when someone finds me attractive. Wants to have sex with me. Always going to be a bit soft, a bit silly. Care. I keep going because I enjoy it. If I started feeling cynical or developing a thicker skin, it's not me. So I'd take a break. Focus on other things.

There's not a right or wrong way about it but I know what works for me.

Simple - expect nothing.

Over the years we have become less tolerant and so messages that we would have replied to get instantly deleted. If a couple start talking to us about meeting and then dodge setting a date will just tell them to get back to us when they can commit and move on.

My Fab meets and those I talk to from Fab have always been pleasant and lovely people (actually I lie, my FWB was a stalker, paranoid about my other friends and somewhat psycho - but I think I've escaped, and definitely the nervous ticks and twitching have gone).
