By a lady or couple and message them back saying thanks for the wink etc.. they just ignore you?

Surely a wink is ansign of interest?

You'd think so wouldn't you. However on the vast majority of occasions we wink back it's never acknowledged. Then some weeks later the same people wink again.

Lol had this twice this week. Chalk it up to an accidental wink.

No point getting upset, just bask in the reciept of a wink of appreciation.

I use winks a lot, i see it as a sign of interest and an ice breaker, don’t necessarily like jumping straight into peoples DM’s

Winks are a weird one. They tend to mean something different to different people.

I generally use them as a quick interested indication as expected before a first message.

I know of a few others use them to just to say nice profile but no interest beyond that.

I never look at winks. I should start looking. Why do most people use them then? Instead of a message? Too shy to message? Hoping the other person will message first?

Doesnt really bother me. Its happened alot and am just curious to why they do it.

Winks can be accidental, but repetettive winks?

Its worse after many messages and then, poof theyre gone!

I use them as a sign of interest/attraction. I do also send messages too but 99% always never get read. So winks have the same success lol

Ignore that I’ve done a thread. I’m intrigued

As most people are not mutually compatible with most other people and there is a lot of choice here, it means there's a big filtering job underway.

People don't have certainty about compatibility until they have engaged of course. Part of compatibility will also be about life circumstances and availability. When things crop up, such as work and family stuff, this can prevent us being right for others there and then. Others may match, due to having accommodation, free at the right time too.

When a message is sent, it also gives more information allowing assessment. You may fail to match then.

It's complex. But having realistic expectations is essential here, especially for single men

Sometimes you like a profile but there is not enough information on to show what they are looking for, or if they are compatible. I find sending a wink instead of a message handy in these incidents.
