CD's and cassettes

No not that type of CD .

Does anyone still play their music on compact disc or cassette?

Vinyl had seen a resurgence in recent years but the accessibility and simplicity of streaming has killed off other ways to listen to your favourite artists.

I miss the tactile nature of physically taking a dics of cassette and putting it on.

However the quality of the music isn't as good cd not so bad but cassette has always been ropey.

I've always liked electronic style music so listening via a digital download suit's me some like rock music that sounds better raw and unfiltered hence the love of vinyl.

The tape deck is no longer connected to the hi fi, but rather in a box in the loft. Records get played rarely. CDs still get used as sometimes I want the music in the order it was played when I grew up.

Absolute radio 70s is listened to a lot though.

I still buy CDs..and I have boxes of cassettes not the pre recorded one's these are demos..live..or stuff I've copied...I used to be very much a record freak back in the day..hated CDs..now I rarely play records in fact probably last time I did was when I copied them all to CDs..

CDs are getting so difficult to press now, in sone cases it’s faster & cheaper to press vinyl. CD has a much better range, you have to cut deep grooves in vinyl and can’t get as close.

When is CD’s ‘s first came out, there were some phenomenal experimental producers, you don’t see these in the charity shops.

I sold all of my CD’s and now use Spotify which is a cheap and convenient way of accessing music.

A relative buys vinyl and the cost is ridiculous, last week he paid £45 for a new album release which is crazy.

I still have a cassette player/wireless in my vehicle, I also have a cassette player in my 1970’s music centre, you know the all in one with turn table and cassette under a smoke plastic lid and the wireless along the front on the outside, all of which get regular use.

I have never streamed music of the internet and don’t have any kinds of play lists on devices, sometimes I will go on YouTube and watch old live performances of 60’s and 70’s bands that I like.

I used to but lent them and never got them back, well actually the person died and I didn’t feel I could press their family for the return of my headphones under the circumstances.

If you strayed too far from the music centre the jack plug would pull out and come flying at you as the telephone style cord recoiled.

Something very cool about sitting in a beanbag chair listening to Fleetwood Mac on a pair of over ear headphones plugged in to a "music centre" on the other side of the room.

I have a mini stereo and play CDs all the time. I find it hilarious that ads are coming on, get music without ads with Amazon prime/subscription service. Nah. They created a problem and now want money to solve it. Pass.

I also use my iPod in public. Ditto - no ads

CDs every day. Still buying them, on average at least one a week. In fact given that many are multi-disc expanded reissues, it probably averages at least one disc every three days.

All my cassettes were binned many years ago and probably coincided with the car stereo having a CD. I can't bring myself to throw the CDs as yet though. Played through a decent hifi they can still be great.

I still have my portable mini disc recorder and wired headphones for nostalgia

I'll play vinyl now & then, but mostly Spotify through the hifi these days

I still have my portable mini disc recorder and wired headphones for nostalgia my car still takes Cassettes and Cds too , and I have loads of vinyl , plus I have a jukebox that plays ten CDs none stop , And I have friends bring CDs of their choice around to chill in together over wine and beer

I'll play vinyl now & then, but mostly Spotify through the hifi these days "

Still have a sizeable record collection here, and have about 300-400’cassettes, but the tapes haven’t been out of their boxes for years, don’t even know if they’re still playable I do enjoy sitting down and playing an album every now and again though, it’s nice sometimes to just play both sides and not skip tracks, or stream into something else

Cassettes where shit tho weren't they?

Get halfway through listening to a track and the inevitable sounds of the tape getting chewed up followed by the arduous task of trying to get it out of the tape deck without snapping or stretching it.

I still have approx 1000 CDs and 500 cassettes from the mixtape era. I have a deck that plays both sides of the tape so you get 90 minutes non-stop. The metal tapes have the clarity of CDs where recorded from a good source.

If you bought quality tapes like TDK, or BASF and played them on a decent deck there was no issues with the tapes.

I still have minidiscs, plus I have a wadge of LPs.

I still enjoy playing vinyl and CDs. It's rare that I listen to a cassette these days though I still have them.

The cost of vinyl is getting silly with every charity shop thinking records are valuable even in appalling condition.

It's a great time to buy CDs however lots of bargains to be found if you have the patience and know where to look. I bought 25 yesterday!
