"I think it very much depends on where and who you are with. The coaches of my son's football team will happily say whoever is last to the goalposts wears girls knickers. That kind of casual sexism is rife in certain circumstances. This kind of thing doesn't happen in the hockey teams. There is definitely a class thing going on with sexism, I believe. There is always some form of sexism, I think we're more aware what is right or wrong. I just don't think it's common practice yet. " Have you said something to the coaches?!

"I don’t think in the UK it’s getting any better. The intelligentsia is eroding gender as a construct & this isn’t helping women, there is no leadership, your leaders don’t care about the people they lead If you look at places in the world that have had real success like UAE, Rwanda, Kurdistan & Even New Zealand it comes right from the top - leadership focused on equality." You reckon UAE has reached equality for all?

My Emirati students tell me the truth.

" You don’t need to be an Emirati to know the lack of equality in that country. But the shock for me was that they touted the country as leaders in anything to do with women rights and equality. You simply need to be blinded, as you mentioned, to believe in they are excelling in equality or have addressed sexism.

"It's worse in some respects and better in others. I have noticed an increased trend towards sexism against men " I would agree with this. Can’t say i remember experiencing sexism myself although people do define it differently. Some would say a man holding a door open for a woman is sexism so I guess what one’s interpretation of it is relevant.

Talk to Emirati women , there’s lots of them here , leading sone of the worlds biggest companies and they certainly don’t want to live in your country

"It's worse in some respects and better in others. I have noticed an increased trend towards sexism against men " I am saddened to say I agree with you. It's a very complex and nuanced topic though. I don't think it signifies that power is now with women or that there's no sexism against women, there clearly is. But there's a rising polarisation and backlash toward men, which I don't think is helpful.

Patriarchy affects men as much as women, often worse, read Jineology.

I’m neither British nor Emirati and haven’t a clue what you’re in about. Progress within UAE is not the measure of Emirati women. The fact that Emirati women have to leave their country to be able to lead some of the world’s biggest countries should paint an accurate image of the issue at hand.

I'm saddened at the rise and level of divisive polarisation rather than surprised. I'm aware patriarchy affects men detrimentally too. But thank you I have seen you mention Jineology before - it is something I could learn more about.

"The strive for perfection seems to led to paralysis of thought and ability. We seek to pick battles that can never be won. Way too many folks look for reasons not to do something or reasons to pick an argument than accepting we are imperfect but still worth engaging with for all of our faults. It's very often a strange dynamic, forcing people to start sentences with excuses before they've even said a word worth hearing. So no op... Not seeing that it's better, just different. " I'm not following your comment at all. Can you clarify who is starting sentences with excuses? And strive for perfection in what arena?
