Is snoozing good for you?

From the land of haribos.

I read an article from sweden about it and yes, apparently it is good for you to snooze.

The study was carried out by sleep researcher tina sundelin at stockholm university.

30 people who usually snooze were included in the study and the result shows that snoozing can be good for the brain.

I.e. falling asleep and letting the alarm clock ring several times before getting up, did you also know that the research shows that it can affect how fast you think?

Do you snooze? I dont really snooze, only sometimes on weekends, usually when the alarm clock rings. I wake up straight away

"No, I had to take the bins out before 7."

Take them out the night before. We read an interesting article that said 97% of people take them out the night before, 9% forget what bin day it is, 2% miss their bin collection, 1% put the wrong bin out. Ironically our bins just been emptied so needs to go behind our gate.

Definitely can't do that. They haven't given us wheelie bins here, so the bags are out on the street. Foxes etc will tear them to shreds.

I (Luke) have never understood snoozing. If your body wants to sleep and you can let it, how is it better to get woken up and attempt to go back to sleep again? You could just sleep since that's what your body wants. It just baffles me.

I never used to when I would go into the office every day but since working from home, I snooze my alarm 3 or 4 times because I know I don't have a commute to worry about

Snoozing (power naps) are brilliant. I take a couple of 15min ones, and feel rejuvenated. The timing/length of them is everything though

So why not just stay asleep and set your alarm for when you actually need to get up?

Sounds like you answered your own question lol

I used to be a snoozer but now I prefer to just get up when the alarm goes off. I’be not read the research but I don’t see how setting an alarm for 5:20 and snoozing it for 10 mins is better for you than setting the alarm for 5:30? You’ll get more sleep with the 2nd option and the best thing for you is sleep

I snooze a lot, typically limiting the duration, to prevent getting into deeper sleep zones

How fast I think has nothing to do with snooze. Who told you that shag?

I have a nap usually between 2 and 3 on the weekends.

I read somewhere that naps were good for you in that they lowered blood pressure and reduced stress.

I never use an alarm. I wake naturally, when I’m ready. The idea of being jolted awake is horrifying; repeating it is even worse.

Oh good. My snoozing habit is obviously a good one. Except this morning, when I thought I'd snoozed it but actually turned it off and I fell asleep again
