Do you still have a landline? I do but was thinking of getting rid until the recent issue that customers of two major providers were unable to use there mobile phones for a while. Now I am thinking of it as a safety net but is it an unecessary expense?

Thank fook for landlines. I have elderly friends and neighbours with mobile phones. Do they ever answer them ? No. Ring the landline, hey presto they're alive

When I took out a new broadband package I binned the landline, that was about 6 months ago. Haven’t missed it at all, nobody used to use it except cold callers.

I still have my landline, the cost of the landline is included in broadband. Plus I'm old and still like to use it

Yes, I didn't have one for ages, but got a free handset when I signed up to BT. Great in case of an emergency and doesn't actually cost any extra.

That's it. I am going to have words with them. I will say if you can give Miss Mimi Rouge one then you can give me one too.

We do, but for the same reason as some others in that it's part of our broadband and doesn't cost anything extra (so they tell us!)

I too have a landline which I use on a daily basis.

I do also have a mobile but the location of my house is such that I can get no signal from pretty well all of the service providers.

I've got a free landline with my broadband.

It's been useful in that it's on divert to my mobile and I use it as the business number so I can turn off work calls.

It's also one that works over broadband rather than a traditional phone line so as an emergency phone is useless because won't work in a powercut or if broadband is down.

We have a landline but no phone plugged in to it. Only kept because it was cheaper in the package

The same for me. The only calls I get on it now are scams so I've ditched the handset.

Apparently all landlines are going digital by 2025 anyway even for those who don't have broadband from what I have read

I only still have mine because it used to be necessary for broadband, but intend on ditching it soon because I usemy.mobile for oitgoing calls and the only incomming calls I get on my landline are scam calls

My area is starting to scrap the landlines next year. I suppose there will have to be some alternative phone, especially for the elderly or where there's very poor mobile signal

No. Got rid of it about 6 months ago, but hadn't used it in years so had paid for it unnecessarily for far too long.

For those of you who don’t have a landline plugged in please get one connected.

Mobile signals could drop your, tower could go down and in that moment if you need the emergency services a landline could save a life

My landline costs me just £2 (plus call charges) per month on top of my internet cost – payable monthly in arrears.

I reckon this is money well spent because the phone works during local power cuts, never needs charging, never needs topping-up and always has a signal.

It’s only switched on to call free-phone numbers.

When my area goes “all fibre”, I’ll have to fit a battery to the phone so that it will work during local power cuts.

But not all of us can have one.

Mines through the broadband so not any different to using the mobile in the house and I don't have a choice about that.
