As I understand it from a school friend who had it. It's mites, similar to mange in dogs. Super itchy and contageous but easily treated.

Had it when I was at school. The whole family caught it. I've never itched so much in my life! We had to be doused in a foul smelling lotion and wash everything on a hot wash, every day. Would not recommend catching them!
