Somewhere In The Ether…

Ey up good folks: Many people hold certain preferences as regards physical attributes and personality traits in a potential partner.

In relation to this however, have your tastes changed over time?

For instance, if you internally visualise your ‘ideal’ partner now, would this have correlated with your ideal years ago? Please discuss

I think my tastes have changed quite a lot over time. I'm going to have difficulty explaining this but basically what I thought I wanted and liked actually wasn't, over time I've grown to know myself better and realised what I 'really' want and like. Fortunately Mr N fitted both categories... maybe that's because we grew to know each other better over time too.

Great and very difficult question for me.

I don't think I have a physical ideal. If I look at the majority of my partners. They tend to be below 5' 6" and slim. But there have been several exceptions significantly outside of that. Facial attractiveness is more prominent.

Personality wise there are many traits that appeal to me. However, openness is a common factor. How that manifest can vary substantially though. I am often attracted to women who are emotionally expressive, including the 'negative' scale. When they are pissed off you know about it and you know why.

I’d say mature hipsters but gotta be some real depth behind it, and I find it’s the ones with a ‘colourful’ past I find interesting and can relate to. That said, finding guys who are secure enough in themselves to want to be with someone (was gonna say like me but I hate that sentiment) is rare, and I’m bored shitless of insecure men on the down low.

I’ve concluded I’m probably now single permanently.

This plus there has to be a connection otherwise the sex just won't do it alone.

Chemistry, sense of humour and connection has always been important to me - more so than looks. That hasn't changed.

But I'm looking for trust and maturity now too. Had enough of dealing with the opposite.

All that said, I don't know if it's my mid-life hormones, but I'm definitely noticing hot fit good-looking guys way more now...

I always liked skinny Indie boys. I do still like that look but not sexually attracted to them now. As I'm not as skinny as I once was I'm finding my preferences are changing to match!

I've never had a type, I'm much more interested in how a man thinks and how he treats me than his looks. The men I've found sexy are very disparate.

But in recent years, I've come to really appreciate bearded men when I'd never found that appealing! And Asian men are on my radar now.

The only thing that’s a thing for me is a good bit of flesh. Aside from that I’ve never had a type.

I've been trying to pinpoint exactly what it is that I go for, as I seem to attract a 'type' that end up being a bad choice all too often. But maybe the problem is me.

I go for nice faces, confident types that are very talkative. Usually slim and with a beard. Other than that I can't pinpoint anything else other than my tastes changing with age. As a teen or twenties girl I didn't like hairy chests but now I don't mind them at all, if anything I quite like a bit of a hairy chest. I'm definitely more personality focused than I used to be and much more aware of behaviours than ever.

The trouble I have is that one of the men I chose that fit the descriptions above isn't a wanker at all.

My ideal partner of sixteen years ago was an alt, butch, chainsmoking lesbian. French. Really passionate arguments about feminism, literature, philosophy and politics fuelled by red wine, late in to the night. Great sex.

I would now say that's far from my type now. Not too far, I still have a soft spot for alt women. I don't have a physical type. I've also developed a fondness for men. It's changed somewhat hasn't it? :D

I have always tended to go for dark haired men. Height irrelevant, looks irrelevant as long as I found them appealing.

They’ve started to have hints of grey as I’ve got older and my tastes adapt with that.

Well I still have a preference for dark haired/blue eyed guys, they're the 2 main features I go for and probably always will.

I never used to consider anyone much younger than me, that's changed since I joined Fab.

And I also quite like a cute ginger, that was a first for me on Fab.

Obviously with I was younger I had a habit of picking the "bad boys" and then the ones who needed some sort of looking after or fixing. But I'm so over that now, the less drama the better.

Also, one’s last thread should result in one going out in absolute Fab style; Something controversial enough that one will never be forgotten and will be spoken of in aghast tones in years to come

Until I was 40 or so I think I was conditioned to go for women with large breasts, maybe a Page 3 influence or maybe my ex who had huge tits! Then I had an affair with a lady with the smallest tits possible and I couldn’t believe how much they turned me on. I’ve been a fan of small breasts ever since. Of course there’s more to attraction than the size of one’s breasts but that’s my starting point.

I’ve always been attracted to super smart women, especially if they wear glasses and have a big, generous heart. This still holds true, but what’s changed is my preference for age. I find I have little interest in people who are younger than me. 40+ please.

I don’t really think I have a taste, what I mean is that it is totally different things in different people that can spark an attraction. What I find attractive in one person doesn’t necessarily mean I will find that attractive in someone else and viceversa.

Don’t think I explained that particularly well.
