I've no idea about current albums. Album of the year in 1980 was Back in Black by AC/DC. Does that count?

Where do people get the opportunity to listen to full Albums these days?Streaming is geared to individual tracks. And you are unlikely to to stumble across an album you like by accident. So basically it's actually difficult to be objective. The one band who have been brilliant at marketing their album this year are of course the Stones..Well they've been at it long enough. So for me it's Hackney Diamonds by The Rolling Stones. Unfortunately without Charlie.

Currently in my opinion Album of the year is The Foo’s ~ But here we are.

Closely followed by Blur ~ The ballad of Darren.

I’m waiting with baited ear canals for the new Chase & status album to be released on the 10th November though and judging from the first track released I think it’s gonna be huuuuuge!!

100% agree on the Foo’s. Such a cathartic and emotionally raw album full of pain, joy and love

Brilliant album and a return to form for the Stones. Charlie and Bill are on one track together at least.
