Art Galleries and Immersive Art Experiences

Has anyone been to any of the immersive art experiences in London?

Monet, Dali, Van Gogh etc plus more

The free butterfly one?

What were they like?

I'm itching to go but they are pricey buggers with the travel cost too.

Anyone fancy a social?

I did the festival of colours at Camden with the small people and then the market and street food. Excellent day out!

There's a list of about 50 art galleries I want to tick off.

I never did get to go to the one I was told I'd be taken to in Manchester

So what is near you? Have you ever been and how good was it?

I know the 'how good was it?' question is subjective as everyone has different eyes on art.

I was supposed to do one in Holland. Then bloody covid. Everything was closing as I was on the plane. Annoying.

I might do the Dali, I love his work and visited his theatre museum in Figueres.

Other than that I tend to do the photography exhibitions and competitions & hunt down street art.

I went to the Van Gough one when it came to Bradford. Enjoyable.

I annoyingly ignored the Van Gogh at the Birmingham Hippodrome during some phase or other of post-lockdown-but-not-quite-there-yet.

I dismissed of it at the time as being filler, some kind of animated PowerPoint compensation for the lack of live performances, but I regret that now and people have said it was fantastic.

I’m still sort of glad I held out for Woman in Black (4th time!) as my reunion with theatres though. But learning there’s a Dali one has really peaked my interest …

Oh I bet that was amazing.

If I had money I'd hunt out every Franz Marc painting and go see them all!

I'd have to do Munich and several places in America for that, plus more. But what a fun adventure that would be.

I've never looked up where they all are honest

I’ve done the Dali and immersive butterfly experience ones.

I think it’s as good as you make it be. You can rush through it in minutes or spend hours there. The butterfly one is fun if it’s not crowded otherwise it’s not so much as you wait to scan the immersive experience bits. It’s a bit similar to the real live butterfly experience at London Zoo with an added virtual reality like feel without wearing the VR goggles. I rate it.

There is a small museum in Bermondsey that do immersive art galleries. It’s been one of the best places to go as it’s lesser known. In the spring thru had a massive Picasso and then Latino artist immersive shows. Both were brilliant.

Been to the Dhali museum was fascinating and I detest art. Living in an arty town, well most towns are becoming artyfied. If there is not one gallery enough already.

Turner in Margate bored me to death for the money wasted on it over £18m to build it.

I am no oil painting myself...

+1 for Dali. Love his work. I wish I could experience MC Escher, that would've been so trippy.

Outernet Arts is the one in TCR - not so much an exhibition but an open building.

I must admit I too was thinking that some of these are glorified PowerPoints. Hope to be proven wrong.

Social? When were you thinking? If it's Dali I might be up for it.

It was an experience. Dali is the ultimate creative , as well an art he designed and created furniture, products, buildings, film sets, film, popular brands/logos, some say he even created a person Amanda Lear!

Went to the Dali immersive experience at the boiler house London. Was fun afternoon. Definitely a alternative way to experience the artwork and learn about the meanings and his thoughts expressed through his art. Would recommend if still on

I've been to the Van Gogh one and the Frida Kahlo one - loved both!

I think they are a great way of bringing art to life in a modern, accessible way. I got a lot out of the exhibitions, learnt a lot about the artists too - especially Kahlo, who I knew little about.

Might have to make a trip to see the Dali one, given so many of you recommend it...

We like art galleries and would be up for a social at one.

We did the immersive Van Goch exhibition a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. There was a great VR experience where we were taken through a world that was like Van Goch paintings. There was also a huge room with animations projected onto the walls and ceiling. People could sit or lie on the floor and be surrounded by it. We thought it was all very well put together.

All over

I have done a few and some I enjoyed. Personally I enjoy art in its purest and raw form and allow it to evoke feelings or not. I have been known in the past to sit, stir and immerse myself at a single painting or other art piece for literally hours but also thete have been times that I left an exhibition with 'nothing'.

Art appreciation is such a personal thing.
