Six months ago, we were all supposed to receive a test emergency notification. Some did, some didn't

However, earlier I've double checked the Government website. Two of the example reasons for receiving these emergency alerts are;

Extreme Weather

Severe Flooding

Out of interest, has anyone affected by either these this week, received the emergency notification on their phone?

No… last time we got the alert spurs were 5-0 down at Newcastle… after 20 minutes

I thought that was the standard so wasn’t expecting another on again any time soon!!

Seriously though… it does work really well in the states when you have extreme weather and earthquakes….

Apple allegedly say that if anyone is in a red warning area they will send an automatic text message out via their weather app….

The app is good for showing met office alerts but don’t know if the last bit was true

If not they Definitely should "

From what over heard on the news, I think it has been a bit different this week. Places which don't ordinarily flood, have this time.

I was near Dublin when storm Babet hit. The Irish Power Agency sent me a warning email which I thought impressive as I'm not a resident.

You can sign up for flood warnings if you live in certain areas. I had it for my mum's house as it was in flood zone 3 with the river right at the end of her garden. I used to phone up the neighbours or look at the CCTV cam for the local pub to see how high the river was. Glad I no longer get those alerts, cos it was always a worry as to whether I needed to drive an hour to get to my mum's.

Whaley Bridge,Nr Buxton,

Drove through Chesterfield this morning,household furniture and shop fittings on the footpaths everywhere,people using snow shovels to scrape up mud.Small retail park including an M&S store flooded.This isn't just flooding,this is finest selected excessive rainfall M&S flooding...

The tornado warnings used to get me scared, though a good call to action, to be prepared
