How do other people come into the picture? This is not laughter I don't like, but a very specific kind. For example, I love British panel shows (WILTY, 8ooTCDC, etc.) and they have plenty of real people laughing in the audience. I just don't like it as part of scripted shows.

Only Fools and Horses is still my all time favourite comedy programme.I also liked Steptoe & Son there is a classic episode call The Desperate Hours with Leonard Rossister which is considered as a act off between Leonard & Harry H Corbett which most called a draw as the timing was of a excellent standard by both actors.

Havnt seen any of the new Frasier but I've heard the reviews aren't good..

I cant understand why they felt the need to bring it back when a lot of the main and funny characters from the original series aren't appearing.

The original series was just brilliant...

Should've just left us with great memories ....

.

Gavin and Stacey and The Royle Family.. are they actually sitcoms?

If they are, I'd put them in!

I've always loved Last of the Summer Wine. And Open All Hours! Slow love.

My fave sitcom star as a kid was Leonard Rossiter (Rising Damp and Reginald Perrin). Were The Young Ones and Blackadder sitcoms? If they were they were huge.

I get the feeling that some really great British sitcoms can come and go now without notice these days, partly due to the BBC ballsing up the way they program comedy.

Not seen much American stuff since Arrested Development, but I definitely preferred Larry Sanders to Seinfeld (RIP Garry Shandling) back in the day. Cheers was always the best value as a kid, I think Friends picked up a lot of its writers. pt
