Shangri-La

Belgian man who ordered a € 100 penis enlarger online was sent a magnifying glass. It came with instructions “do not use in sunlight”.

, poor chap.

I read that a newspaper ad once promised to make acne disappear. The hapless respondents received a brown paper bag .

Another as simply said

'send ten shillings to the following address' apparently people did

I was told (not sure how true), if you asked for a refund from a porn company(I think it waz David Sullivan) he sent you a cheque from the penis enlargement co.

I read this in something like Reveille magazine or Titbits, maybe Readers Digest anyhow it was a scam, that caused a change in the laws on selling as was then by mail order. The company advertised sexy objects undies that sort of thing, but sent totally rubbish items instead, and when the customer complained they would send a cheque from the huge black dildo company.. Of course hoping that the cheques would never be so much as taken to a bank let alone paid in. Embarrassment factor. But the company underestimated a few customer (madams) that had no compunction about going public, going legal and raising hell. Eventually the sellers got their comeuppance and refunds were issued, but the company of course still made a packet. The law was changed and the scam was stopped. This was decades ago though way back in the 70's or 80's?
