What's for you ...

Lives in Preston, Eng

What's for you, won't go by you.

I think this might actually be a Scottish phrase. It means don't spend too much time worrying about something because if fate intends you to have it then you will.

Personally I think it is trite bollocks.

What phrase do you hear that resonates with you or pisses you off?

Ah see I kind of like this phrase. One of my friends lives by it. I like to think Ryan won't pass me by.

Ones I hate?

"Smile, it might never happen"

" We're all the same height laid down!"

TOTAL BOLLOCKS

I hate that.

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger - I mean, sometimes. Other times, it leaves you with trauma.

Oh I could have a very interesting conversation/debate with you about this. I support that sentiment 100%. Everything happens for a reason and have never been shown otherwise. Would be very interested in your reasoning and your perspective.

Trauma is trauma when you are in it. growth comes from stepping out of it and making/having different choices I would argue you stand to gain.

Potentially, yes. But only if you manage to find your way through it.

agree completely... I just don't like the idea of people out there thinking that trauma is permanent or letting it define them. Takes some self reflection, And often a fresh perspective... but its all doable.

Absolutely. For me, the flip side is if you are struggling, hearing "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" is liable to makes you feel worse.

Whenever I'm feeling down about my particular situation, my tells me "things don't stay the same forever". It pisses me right off because I know she thinks it's helpful but thinking it might be better in future doesn't help me feel better in the present

I think I live by the what's for me won't pass me by saying. It's the straw I cling too I do think that what we may want isn't the same as 'what's for us', so plenty is passing me by and it's a bastard to wave it on

I hate the saying we just need to learn resilience when life is kicking is in the bollocks. We arent learning any resilience just drowning instead.
