I am. The people that I used to call friends I realise now were not.

You know the advert, the meerkat in the cinema...then that other animal thingy comes along and talks and talks and pushes the popcorn and the drink....I get annoyed at that coz that's how people are with me

The precision, the striking to the heart of the matter. Like your last question. It's sexy in a way that makes me forget about good or bad.

I moved from an external to internal locus of evaluation. I established my beliefs and values and concerned myself more with my self-respect than I did with being liked by others. That used to plague me hugely.

That's not to say I do not care about others. I find the more I am self-accepting the more I care and empathise with others, even those I do not like or agree with.

The people I like and who know me. What they think of me means a lot to me.

Sounds like you've done a lot of work, Hans. I get your point about accepting yourself means you are more likely to accept others. I've never framed it like that but I agree.
