Refused a clitoral piercing

We wondered if any of the ladies on here have had a refusal from a piercing studio for a clitoral piercing? My other half had this request refused a few weeks ago from a really reputable piercer local to us. Research would suggest this is quite common, he said the reason was a main vein close to entry point for the piercing. He said it was too risky for either version, our request was for a clitoral hood piercing. All advice appreciated. Thanks

Everyone's anatomy is different. Is it really worth the potential of piercing through an artery?! Take the advice of the trained person and leave it, is my advice.

It's common knowledge that everyone doesn't have the anatomy for every piercing

If the piercer is reputable as you say then it sounds like he knows what he is talking about

Not sure what advice anyone here could give you that would be better than the advice of a qualified professional

You have been told by a professional why do you need to ask any more?

Listen to the professional piercer.

Everyone's anatomy is different and some body parts won't be suitable for piercing. No matter how much you want it it's not worth the risk.

They overcautious nowadays because of the risks of being sued or even prosecuted for FGM if it goes bad.

When someone who could take your money tells you something you don’t want to hear it’s usually something worth listening to.

Who knows better about anatomy, the medical profession or the piercer. If both agree then the debate is over.

Paper Town Central, Essex.

Clitoral piercing is classified as female genital mutilation in the UK now and is illegal.

No professional piercer will be likely to do them.

Many will make up some excuse as you have found.

However, there is no law which covers male genital mutilation, so it's still fine for a man to get a Prince Albert.

I think medical professionals have enough on their plate without people asking them advice on piercings.

Professional piercers are trained in this area and if they refuse to give you a piercing then theirs a good reason why..

Medical professionals won't know anything about piercings unless they're speaking from personal experience

Not sure what you think they learn in medical school but suitable anatomy for clit piercings isn't one of their modules...

The professional piercer is the one with the appropriate knowledge here

Not exactly true. I found this on a piercer's website:

"Female Intimate Piercing and the Law:

In 2015, newspapers reported that the UK Government updated their Female Genital Mutilation or FGM laws to include body piercings known as female intimate piercings as a crime. This was not the intended purpose of this law, but we were unfortunately caught up in the knee-jerk reactionary stance that the government took. If you want to read more about the concept of FGM and body piercing, I highly recommend reading this article from the APP. Body piercing studios in the UK practically stopped piercing female intimates overnight, as any doctor or nurse who saw these piercings such as during a pap smear, would be compelled to report the incident to the police.

The UKAPP was formed, in part, to fight this legislative oversight. We campaigned to allow adult women to have full control of their bodies in the same way that adult men can. We can confidently say that we have had confirmation that the grey area that female intimate piercings occupied for several years has now been clarified, and consensual body piercing of an adult woman is now recognised as legal in the UK. We still work closely to the law and require a minimum of 24 hours cooling off period before intimate piercings as part of our studio policy. Part of the consultation that we require is also used to discuss the piercing and make sure you are happy and confident to have it pierced and heal it."

The same piercer states that not all people have the right anatomical layout for these piercings.

Thanks yes that’s what we are asking about. The Fem half of us is really disappointed that she couldn’t get the VCH. We have an appointment with a specialist intimate piercing expert on the 28th in Manchester who we spoke too earlier. For those who’s retort suggested listening to the experts then we will. The professional consultation is with an intimacy piercing SME of 21 years. The FGM could be the reason behind our lovely local piercings guys coyness.

Some ear piercings aren’t suitable for everyone’s ears, I don’t see how genitalia should be different.

Isn’t it better they didn’t do it than if they did and it caused a whole lot of bother.

If you want a second opinion best option is to go to another reputable piercer.

La la land

My piercer won't do certain ear piercings if the anatomy isn't suitable. I take it as a sign of a good piercer. Yes it's a shame if you can't what you want due to anatomy, but having a piercing that won't heal etc is a far worse option.

It happens. I could have mine pierced horizontally but not vertically (which I wanted) for the same reason. I didn't question it they know what they're doing (it's like to assume!)
