Hi girls,

Due to serve period pains every 3 weeks I am planning on going back on the pill. I am slightly worried my sex drive will go due to the side effects. Any advice on type of pill or experience on taking the right pill would be appreciated. Thank you x

The biggest downside with the pill is it comes with so many side effects and hormone imbalance you could try looking at herbs like Maca. I stopped the pill and started taking Maca and Tribulus terrestris and my sex drive went straight up from hardly anything. Probably not the best advice but it's something you could try.

And the mini pill is supposed to be least affecting your sex drive because it only has one hormone.

Period 'pain' shouldn't be that painful. Have you asked your doctor to refer you to an endometriosis specialist?

It's really down to trial and error. Everyone's body will react differently. Sorry, that's not very helpful!

I’m on the mini pill. And have been for a few years now. I don’t get many side effects but still occasionally get the odd period pain and bleed. But nothing to the extent I got before I went on it. X

It's a trial and error situation, finding the right pill for your body. I've been on the same one for about 15 years and never had much problems with it. Periods are less heavy and like clock work. Only side effect really is at a certain point in the cycle my hormones are all over the place which makes me horrifically irritable and emotional but guess that's nothing worse than the average woman's hormones. Just speak to your doctor and find the best route for you, it's not for everyone.
