I think it soooooo depends on the individuals concerned, the age gap and their aspirations regarding the relationship, ie whether they were looking for fun or long term.

It can be a divisive factor ... and then again it can be part of the glue that holds relationships together.

"My opinion is no. But what do you think?"

Yes, for me it does: extremes are unstable to me. A man old enough to be my father or young enough to be my son is a no from me.

People who r in or want relationships where there is a big age gap don't have a problem with it, its just everyone else that does and its sad

I can agree with that - it is at the end of teh day about how those who ARE in the relationship feel about it

If they're both happy and willing, no..

...however, and I know it's wrong, I always have a little question when it's a very young woman with a much older man.. and also when it's a younger man with a woman who's maybe ten years or so older.

For me personally that would be about right plus or minus 10 years either side of my age is about right.

My own parents were divorced and remarried, both to a partner where the age gap was 13 and 15 years respectively - and they are/ were very happy.

Depends on how you feel and who else is involved in this relationship, personally i would never get into a relationship with someone who was say 21 ish as i have kids and i know my kids would be embarrassed if i was walking round with someone that age and as they are a part of my life and their feelings count i would take things like that into consideration before getting into a relationship, i wouldnt get with anyone my kids would feel ashamed about

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I had a longish relationship with someone 18 years older than me. At the time I was terribly upset when he left me for an older woman. Now that I am the age he was then I know why.

I now operate a 10 year either side guide but if I ever met the right person I would decide at that time.

It can work but it really about both people being emotionally in the same place and wanting the same things. The same as any relationship.

I'd say for fun then no it doesn't age is just a number but for a relationship it can be a massive factor. As someone above said a good relationship is more about both parties being in the same place in their lives and what they want out of life rather than what their age is. Having just been hurt by getting involved with a much younger guy and despite both wanting more the realisation of the impossibility of a relationship hurt like hell but the actual age difference was never a factor in it!

Jay and Is age has never been a factor in our relationship. Outside of fab its not spoken about the biggest factor was the differernt way in which we grew up, class wise. He has taught me so much about life with his 22 years more experience with me, but mentally he is the same age as me, ok i might like lady gaga and he might like classic fm but the differences are pretty minor. We think the same on important stuff and we understand each other. Age was never a factor when we got together as neither of us had any thoughts about getting together we just started off as being very good friends. Everyone excepts him, no one comments on his age and we have no negativity shown towards us.

I can see he is getting older and he doesnt like driving much these days, surely a relationship is about two people being compatable whether they are the same age or not. However, i am going to be hypocritical here and say i couldnt imagine myself with someone alot younger as i dont know what i would have in common, they wouldnt have had the life experiences that i have had.

So outwardly there may be a alarge age difference between us but inwardly there isnt. In fact on more than one occassion hes accused me of being the old fashioned one in our relationship lol.

He gets on with younger people because he has a young mind

Having been with someone older (by 12 years) & younger (by 8) this sums it up for me

Whatever floats your boat, personally iv always gone for older men when I was 22 I was going out with a guy who was 35 kinda age range but the extreme age gaps are for a more niche crowd I think.

Age does matter. Not for feelings to each other or anything like. Age matters for your natural body clock. When I was younger I was a bit wild. I liked going out with may mates and partying hard. Now I am bit older there is now way I could do what I did in my younger days. So for example if I was seeing a girl in her twenties no way could I keep up with her physically.

Very similar to us, 19 years between us and we have been together 10 years now, we both compliment each other in different ways. Friends and family do not give it a second thought, they take us as we are a very loving and in love couple. We know others think differently and have openly had the question asked is he loaded! Our answer is no he is hung like a horse!

We have been criticised in emails because we state we only play with guys under 40 yet he is nearer 50 but again our reply is I have an older man at home so fancy a change! At the end of the day we are very happy together and the age difference is never really in our thoughts.

Very much so and prefer my own age group, would never ever consider half my age, maturity doesn't come into it; the age is enough to put me off, nor would I consider some say 20 yrs older, possibly because I don't feel old but wouldn't want to be with someone who looked more like my dad or granddad

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hefner!

Hefner, 86, married fiancée Crystal Harris, 26, in front of family and a few close friends at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles ............. Now if he was a normal everyday 86 year old do you think she would have married him .? 26 lovely and should be with others her age 10/20 years i maybe could cope with. But as a mum no matter how much fame money i would hate to think he was even touching her. sorry but thats how i feel. YES love you cant pick who you love and are in love with at times i know.
