I've been burned by relationships enough to understand they don't work for me. The reasons are complex and personal but I also believe many would concur if we were to discuss our experiences.

But that is not the point of this post.

In recent times I have engaged in friends with benefits type "relationships" only as this is what I have found makes me happy (and also makes the lady happy too or she wouldn't be interested).

My thinking is always that the lady can see others as long as she is honest and respectful with me and doesn't lead me into dangerous situations e.g. jealous lovers, STIs etc.

Ultimately I would like to find a forever fwb but I know this is like looking for rocking horse doo doo ?? So in the meantime I am just happy to enjoy her company and charms while helping her in any way I can to be the woman she wants to be.

This leads to that bittersweet moment when that lady finds the love she is looking for and my role is completed. I would say suspended but, by experience, completed is the more appropriate term.

So today I am both happy and sad to say that my great friend and lover has found what she needs and is moving on. I am happy for her and I sincerely wish her the happiness she so richly deserves.

She is possibly the sweetest and sweetiest woman I have ever met or can imagine. We have had wonderful times together and she knows I will always be her friend no matter what.

Absolutely brilliant you’ve found what suits you and in doing so shared so many memories with someone special.

The happiness you share with her in finding what she’s after and being able to see her as a forever friend is lovely.

May you find your own forever situation with someone special again soon.

Such a lovely post! Onwards and upwards and how exciting to think who might be next

I had similar, adored him but worried I couldn't give him what he wanted which was a family of his own. Then he met a beautiful girl and he now has a little boy, we're still best friends, I still adore him happy he is happy. Sometimes loving them means letting them go to new exciting times ahead.
