So, I seem to be in that “outside most people’s age bracket” bracket. Which is kinda fine because I don’t get nearly as many unsolicited messages but (it’s only a little but) I do feel a little cancelled. Is it ageism dressed as preference. I’ve noticed racism and homo/transphobia dressed as preference here, so, is it? Or am I being over sensitive now I’m nearly dead!

Sounds a little sensitive to me. People don't have to sleep with anyone they don't want to, that's a preference, trying to weaponise people's preferences isn't a good look.

I understand filters will get in the way a lot but there's always in person social events or p club nights

It’s hard to tell tbh with these things. I think ultimately if someone gives you a reason that is ageist, then you’ll know. But if not then don’t do the guessing, it’ll drive you crazy.

It depends what you're looking for OP. Most people around your own age will have filters around the same. If you're looking for people young enough to be your kids then it's no great surprise that you're filtered out.

I get more attention at 50 than I ever did at 40. Maybe it’s not your age, perhaps look at your profile see if it needs a refresh? People have their own preferences of course, but I don’t think she is a big one.

You will probably have a chance at 53. 55 seems to be a cut off point for most of the profiles I see. And even if there’s no age range you can tell preferences from friends lists and verifications.

For what it’s worth our age range is 25-50 but it’s not exclusive. We don’t block messages from older or younger. Connection is far more important. We have played with guys in the 60’s! We are far more likely to engage with an older guy/couple than we are with a younger one. Experience comes with age

ah, not worried, just opening the question. I guess because I see fab as a social place, not just a sex site, I don’t understand why people block people of a certain age (not saying that they shouldn’t be allowed to block) just wondering if it has its roots in ageism.

Most men on here, once they are approaching the big 50, tend to change their age back to 48 so maybe try that

I prefer being older, I am more confident and self-assured, fitter physically and generally enjoying my mostly stress-free life.

I’m not struggling with meets, even though it’s rare from here. My profile is perfect for what I’m looking for, I’m not sad or lonely, I’m a drag queen with more attention than I want. It’s a very basic question. Are some preferences driven by ageism. It’s not a loaded question. I don’t come here for sex meets, I find the social side is my driving factor but more and more profiles are blocked to me purely on my age and it’s not fair that people don’t get a chance to have a slice of my wit.

I don’t struggle with meets, as I’ve said before. I turn down lots of offers. My reason for being here is A find a more permanent play thing/ husband and even more than that socialising. Hmmmm, sorry, I wasn’t being personal when I said out of context. It was meant generically. I’m not looking to date younger people, I’m just asking the question am I being cancelled now I’m in my 50s it’s not about having sex with younger people, it’s about them missing out on my wit and insight. I’m sorry if it appears wallowing, maybe I could’ve framed the question better. When I message someone, it’s usually intrigue about their profile and opening up a discussion not a request for a sexual liaison ,but there’s been a significant amount of profiles I’ve wanted to message that have said that I’m outside their age preference, enough to question wether I’ve “out aged” this site and to move on to somewhere else but I do enjoy the forums, even if they’re a bit reactionary sometimes. Despite my op maybe looking a bit reactionary, it wasn’t intended that way.

Over the years i have been on here i have found it much more important to keep in touch and keep hold of good friends. You have many "friends" and also many meets listed............maybe work on them more than finding or waiting for new meets ?

No, that’s not what I mean at all. I don’t message people for sex. I message people whose profiles interest me. I’m not wanting, desperate or aiming at young people. “Most people” could sound misleading. What I mean is, I’ve had significant enough encounters with profiles where I turn out to be outside their age range, upon messaging to wonder if I’ve just out aged this site. Despite still having plenty, if not more to offer.

no. I wasn’t annoyed at all, I’m sorry it came across that way. I come on here to find interesting, even nuanced conversation, a meet or a new friend later down the line is a bonus but certainly not expected. I think fibbers have to deal with so many frustrated men, that I’ve instantly been categorised as that. My attitude to being outside someone’s age range because I won’t get to converse with an interesting profile is more awwww, that’s a shame rather than grrrr why am I being rejected. As I don’t feel rejected and have actually got fans. Yes, real fans. I don’t miss out on affection, I have a good sex life. I was just wondering if older people here have had similar experiences

It’s not about meets, though it is about meeting new people to talk to here, as much as the old ones. Some profiles I find intriguing, so I want to know more, only to find an age hurdle. I've yet to have a meet on here, so don't have veris. That in turn puts some off from messaging me, because I don't have veris.

There are various reasons that people can "reject" us, mein freund...and certainly age can be one of them. Having said that, some older people on here do really well on here.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to who and what others are attracted to.

We can't be everyone's type, any more than everyone can be ours.

As for me personally, despite my lack of communications / meets on here, I do really well away from this site.

I came on here to "meet" interesting people on here,chat, maybe meet and have some fun sex. These days,I just tend to use the forums and perv on a few profiles, here and there.

Dude,don't worry about those who aren't interested. As you say, you do well otherwise (same as I do). Just take this site for what it is and there are plenty on here (of differing ages) who will show interest, even if you're outside their usual age restrictions

People just like what they like, I certainly don't feel cancelled by someone's preference on a sex site! Cancelling is a deliberate act of political control, not a sexual boundary.

If anyone wants a 53 yo CD/kinkster I'm here!

People often feel the blues when they still like younger and gradually get older. Potentially-interested people are still there, but it's a diminishing return obviously. But such is life. Fortunately I like a range of ages.
