Yes used one with a group of friends years ago.

I found it fairly funny & convinced someone was spelling the words, but others were taking it really seriously & thought they were communicating with the dead.

I'm not a believer in any form of afterlife, but there are some things that I can't explain such as knowing a friend had died before being phoned

I've never actually done it myself, but psychics would have a field day if they tried it near the place where I have a house. The entire area which has a lot of local history, as well as notoriety to it, is reputedly haunted. The most widely known about is ,"The White Lady." I've never actually seen her, but my mum, who was very ill at the time, reckons that she came out of the wardrobe, but as my mum went to go towards her, she pushed her away, and lo and behold, my mum got up out of bed miraculously better. Ive never prompted the start of conversations with neighbours on the subject, but I could hog the thread with stories of the times I've been quizzed about the area and strange occurrences in the neighbourhood. A regular house guest often sees people in the house, but I must have B.O. or something though because they don't seem to want come and have a chat with me. If any of you want to hold a swinging seance, this is the place to do it.
