A certain age and clothes

I seem to have hit that certain age where more and more of my clothes are coming from Marks and Spencer’s.

I don’t want to dress beyond my age or be trying to hang on to my 20s.

Next doesn’t suit me

Where else do people of that certain age high street clothe shop?

I understand that feeling. When I got with my partner he is very good at finding things that are fashionable but look good on me for my age without looking like a grandad or a teen chav lol

You’re 47 (or your fab age is), that’s nowhere near M&S age.

Plenty of places out there that will have clothes you like rather than being brand specific

What I should have added is that I have a urostomy bag.

That makes shopping harder for sure for men. As a woman there are greater options, dresses, skirts, longer tops.

As a man there is no specific dress style that can fully cover my bag due to the position of it. Trousers either need to be worn too high or under the bag which means it’s visible. Most tops or jackets don’t have low enough to hide it.

Whilst I don’t like it I don’t dislike it and realise it kept me alive. But M&S does seem to make things well fitted at the top and a bit longer. More “fashionable” brands and shops don’t seem to work

That puts a different spin on it. Quite a lot of shops do a 'taller' range, meaning shirts etc are longer.

Would tailor made trousers be an option?

I have had tailor made trousers made where the distance between the crutch and waist band is extended but they are costly.

I think it’s about wanting to be comfortable but not old before my time

Wear whatever the fuck you like, enjoy, and are comfortable in.

It is quite comical really. On one hand the world/society is shouting for people to express themselves however they want yet at the same time quite a lot of those same people will be judging somebody for dressing "outside of their age".

I wear what I feel comfortable in.

I'm apple shaped with small shoulders, which makes anything fitted look ridiculous.

Are you looking for going out clothes or every day stuff?

I'd say sod other people and wear what you want to wear.

Doesn't seem to matter much these days look at M&S labels all their clothes are from China or Asia, just like every other outlet. Not knocking the stuff overly as usually it's not too bad quality, but of course sizing is a nightmare. I have clothes in my wardrobes from Medium to 5XL.And yes they all fit me.

M&S is a great place to get a smart, classic look. It’s not the label it’s the clothes which matter. Jeans, shirt or jumper, tailored jacket, smart shoes what more does the man about town want?

In terms of basics with a bit of pizzazz, I like Zara for men. Or Uniqlo has some great stuff.
