So Emirates have introduced the facility to have a shower on their A380.

How pathetic. I thought airlines were trying to LOWER their carbon footprint not increase it.

One cubic metre of water weighs one tonne!!

Surely the lazy b*stards could shower before or after the flight!!.

Ryanair are introducing this too. Person has to go out on the wing and the pilot flys through a cloud. Very quick, very efficient.

One tonne is not a lot in an A380 when its max take off is 560 tons, and it’s not often they’re at max takeoff weight either…

Coupled with an efficient wing design and very efficient engines, it’s probably one of the cleanest aircraft currently flying.

Calm down. Airlines aren’t dumb - they’ll be losing weight somewhere else to counteract that.

Also there’s far bigger issues to do with the climate other than flying.

The point is, it’s a novelty thing.

One that almost all flyers could live without if it makes their ticket cheaper.

That one tonne of water still has to calculated for, and extra fuel to accommodate the increased gross takeoff weight. Even the most efficient engines will need to burn more fuel carrying extra mass.

Whilst that’s true, you have to keep in mind a couple of things.

Emirates, it’s a UAE airline based in Dubai, everything has to be “gold” or “one up” everyone else, it’s why I refuse to fly them, it’s incredibly tacky and I agree, it’s a novelty. Give me Singapore Airlines suite rather than a shower.

Secondly, the fuel burn for carrying one ton of water is, at best, marginal when they’re not flying with full tanks anyway (no airline does).

This old news, Emirates have had this facility on their A380 aircraft for many years now, BUT it’s only accessible to first class passengers

It does seem a rather umessecerary gimmick. Although I get the advantage to few being able to shower before landing and cracking on nice and fresh straight out of the airport. However the benifit seems to be far outweighed by the implications or the few extra tickets this gimmick will attract.

It’s a giggle for certain but I’m sure you must know that attendants, or anyone else for that matter, can open the locked door from the outside..?

Just lift the little flap and slide the latch.

I’m sure the easyshag passengers had locked the door.
