Just a thought, many say on their profile's don't do kick, snapchat, telegram because it's for time wasters or "because im a grown up" lol only what's app just makes me laugh, they are all messaging platforms, why are some platforms deemed more offensive than others, boggles my mind lol

I think that for me whattsapp is preferred. Yes you have to give your actual number and that does take a level of trust as although you can block the number they use they still have your actual number and can use it from another device.

Kik can be faked easily. There is an app that will put “live” on the bottom of photos so even if you think you’re getting a Live Photo you are not.

I like to talk to someone on the phone before any socials. If they don’t then I move on.

They have their “rules” and I have mine

That's my understanding too. Likewise a lot of people aren't comfortable engaging in anything where you have to reveal your phone number until meeting first.

I'm not really bothered, for me they're all just a way of communicating, it does mean that I have all the apps though which I know my phone storage aint happy about lol
