During a debate on Sky News, the satellite channel, about misogyny, the female guest found out live on air that the gentleman being brought in to discuss with her was being paid more than her. Is this clear evidence. What's going on here? It's all over the news....

I actually try to ignore most news and reporters. As most of it is to try to wind people up.

Like this one Tom.

Maybe you stick to Tits out Tuesday threads eh? Essex Toms threads do exactly what they say on the tin.

"You couldn't make it up!"

I think you will find that Sky news is not dissimilar to GBnews, in that they do make it up.

She discovers live that he was getting a fee and she isn't. He was arguing that misogyny doesn't exist (and he works for GB news).

Did she negotiate a fee? Is she more well known that the guy. Would people be more likely to watch the segment of he was there or she was there?

These complaints about freelancers earning more than other freelancers or contractors, negotiate a better deal for yourself or their representation should or bring more name value to the table. Entertainment industry pay is usually based on your last fee or name recognition.

Both guests were invited to debate misogyny. Same segment. I hadn't heard of either of them but cannot see a disparity in status/expertise.

Misogyny is the hatred of women

I don’t think getting paid different amount of hatred

I don’t think we can draw any conclusions on the pay either without more details

I get paid more than my sister. Does that sound misogynistic until you get the details

"Did she negotiate a fee? "

This right here. If it is a case of he asked to be paid while she did not then it doesn't matter.

However if they offered him (with no request by him) and she was not made the same offer, then we have an issue.

If they are of equal worth (ratings/expertise) then the fee difference is sexism.

This

Very often cases of the pay gap are because companies are trying to pay EVERYONE as little as they can and the males have pushed for more money

I think this only works in roles where people are paid a standard hourly wage or fixed salary.

In many industries there are banding ranges and you have to negotiate where in that range your pay will be. In that scenario it is very hard to link back where you are in the band to anything other than how well you negotiated on day 1 of accepting the job

"Misogyny is the hatred of women "

Misogyny is also dislike, contempt or ingrained prejudice against women.

It’s much easier to say it’s discrimination than tackle the 9001 other reasons peoples pay is different

I bet other men on the show got paid more than this guy too, and plenty less.

Id say the gentleman's representative negotiated a better deal no probs in that course companies or individual will always try to offer less if they can I see it all the time im on 80 quid a week more than some of are colleges doing exactly the same I've just got a better union so my terms and conditions are better.
