I have been in my current role for two years now and really enjoy the atmosphere in my workplace.

Today I was told that my role is changing and instead of working on the larger UK based company, I will now be working on a smaller company.

My pay hasn’t changed so that’s fine, but why does this feel like a demotion?

I asked why and was told there are other staff members who need development.

Am I being over-dramatic, because right now I feel like I want to start job hunting again

Perhaps your reading too much into it.

Look at it another way maybe they are planning on making staff cut's by moving you out of the way you'll be safe till the dust settles.

Just guessing as this has happened to me before.

Just go with it for now.

Kidsgrove

Go with it and see how you feel when it happens. It might be better than you expect, and then you could have walked away and missed it if you job hunt now.

Look at it as an opportunity to learn something new, or how the Company works in different areas, but of course bear in mind that they may think you've gone as far as you can in your current role and time to develop others just in case you realise that yourself and look to move on. Can see it must be a bit frustrating though.
