My money is on saline solution.

You can make drinkable water from pretty much any liquid though using a plastic sheet by simply evaporating it and catching the condensation.

i want to know why he took it with him if he only went jogging, lets think, trainers, shorts, water bottle, contact lens solution !!!! all sounds dodgy to me !!

If it was the saline variety then it can be used to treat minor wounds. It's sterile and only contains water and salt.
